This school is one of the feeder schools into Horner Middle and Irvington High. The school and this area in general has changed over the years, and we have only excellent things to share about Grimmer and this neighborhood! The principal Ms Nye is very experienced as is the staff at this school, the students are all very bright and competitive. They have the awesome music for minors program where the students get to give performances through the year. Very active and involved PTA! Also if you have multiple children attending schools this location is close to 3 elementary, middle and high school which makes it super convenient for working parents to drop off and pick up! A huge plus from the Warm Springs area which was very cumbersome for us to go back and forth. The parents and students attending are very competitive and most families work in tech so if you are looking for a a healthy challenging environment, this is the school for your family!

My daughter has some difficulties learning and they have gone above and beyond to help her. She is advancing well and they genuinely care about her and her progress. I couldn't be happier with the staff and Mrs. Nye. I was so sad when the school district moved the Spanish immersion from this school and put it at a school with a rating of 5. Not a way to improve in my opinion.

My family loves Grimmer Elementary, because of their qualified and lovely teachers, amazingly helpful and cordial staff, the experienced and devoted to education and community buildup Principal Ms. Nye, the diversely rich school community, the engaged and hardworking PTA parents. Our family is beyond amazed by the Dual Immersion Spanish Program. Even though the pandemic years have been and still are a big challenge for everyone, the school committed to mental health education, the anti-bullying is not just a seasonal campaign, is a year round commitment in education based in core values of respect, being our best self, and be safe.Although this not our neighborhood school, we choose to drive longer distance in order to have our kids attend school here, take advantage of the bilingualism and bi-literacy opportunity the school offers, plus our kids are happy here and learning in a positive environment.Go Grimmer Bears!

My two children have attended Grimmer for five years. They are challenged in classes and taught how to be good citizens. The diverse community has allowed my children to value, understand, and accept people's differences. After reading some of the comments on this platform, I am bewildered. We must remember that our children are products of their home environment more than anything. If we suggest that children who are different than us are not valued, our children will not value other's differences either. The Spanish Dual Immersion Program is wonderful. I am so grateful for the teachers and principal at this school for helping to teach my children how to be accepting of others and at the same time aspire to be excellent students academically. Thank you Grimmer!

I just loved this school. This is the best school that I have ever been to. I wish I can stay here forever!11

Extremely poor. The atmosphere cultivated is a happy go lucky. There's no responsibility created in students as there is no effective homework program. There is no trait of innovation developed in kids as Science and Math are not taught on a daily basis.

Good teacher but not so good for learning how to respect each other. The kindergarten is wonderful but when turn to first grade, some black kids bullied the minorities in the school. The kids have to learn how to deal with violence first than learning.

This is regarding the front desk. About 15-20 minutes after school ended, I went to pick up my child but he was already gone from the class room. Not a big deal, me and my child have a system of where to stay after school for pickup. However, he wasn't where he was supposed to be. I proceeded to the front desk and asked if they could make an announcement for him to come to the front but the lady at the front said they could make no announcement over the PA system. How ridiculous is that? A worried parent and you cannot sympathize? Too busy? Whatever the case, my child no longer attends this school.

I have a 1st grader who loves Grimmer Spanish Immersion. The K and 1st teachers are amazing, helping my english only daughter to engage and enjoy a very challenging academic environment. She is only 3 months into 1st grade, and can do math, write sentences, and understand her teacher, all in spanish. They work on spelling words like guitarra and reguero. Instead of boring class parties, teachers arrange celebrations that include dance, science, and craft stations keeping the kids learning and having fun. Half of the parents stay and help kids with morning work, and there are almost always parents helping in class. The spanish speaking parents have made a great effort to engage my daughter and help her to connect with the other kids. They have PE 2x a week, science in the brand new lab 2x a week, computer lab and Library 1x a week. Fully certified teachers do 1on1 support a few times a week to help my daughter as she learns in her 2nd language. The principal seems to know each student by name and has a very hands on approach. I wish for more aggressive recruitment of more english only students, otherwise it is a great program achieving results far beyond my expectations.
