This school is only doing good because the demographics of student is Asian American and most parents are obsessed to teach their own child! School teachers are BAD- specially accelerated math teacher tried hard how to discourage kids to move out of honors math! They are constantly faulting kids because they forgot to make a box or didn’t added 3 place after decimal! Teacher don’t teach a thing in class as expectations is all kids already goes to RSM!I have never seen teacher this mean and rude. No encouragement in teaching or no empathy in how kids can get more interest in math. I really feel FUSD fire both 7gradw math teachers for accelerated math! Horrible teacher! Kids are self motivated and peer pressure keeps another fighting for grades but I don’t think this school is creating good proper or smart thinker.

As a current student at the school, I would rate this school a pretty high score. Either it's because others schools I went to were really bad, or this school is good. Academically, Hopkins has one of the highest scores in Fremont. The teachers are great, and only a few of them are not very likeable. We are engaged in learning as far as I know and we have a lot of classmates who are really excited to go to classes. As for emotional support, the counselors at the school are really helpful if you need them and they make students smile when they see them. We don't experience any bullying or harassment in the school, we don't do anything that makes others feel bad unintentionally nor intentionally. the ptc every year helps our family understand our current academic situation, and after they receive the problems amd thr perks of our learning, they help a us out a lot more for the rest of the school year. Overall, I think this school is amazing, better than any other ones that I have visited in the city.

School is really good for academics but nothing else. Kids bully each other in competitions with scores though the competition themselves are not set for middle school level.

No support to struggling students. This school is good if your student is already ahead of the grade and doesn't need much support.

The staff at Hopkins is very unfriendly and unwelcome, even at pick up in the parking area they are rude and always have a grin. My child’s mental health at this school has been a struggle for many reasons, teachers aren’t nice and I don’t think they care much about helping students. There are about 2-3 teachers who have been caring and great but as for the rest including the vice principle they are unkind from talking to a few of them. If every time I ask my child how school is going and the answer is always negative including from friends of theirs then there is an issue. I wanted to like Hopkins but unfortunately I don’t recommend it. It may be great for academics but that’s all about it has going for it. I hope this school improves for the new load of students it will bring soon once it becomes a middle school. Do better Hopkins, and please be kind, teenagers deserve a little bit of kindness and encouragement not constant bickering and belittling. They are the future!!!

The new principal is too busy with politics and has no time to take care of simple, daily and yet important stuff such as bullying, thefts from the inside and outside, floods, vandalism, littering, academic dishonesty, etc. The school does not believe in discipline and uphold what is written in the parent's handbook. The school's protocol does not work and tends to complicate and multiply problems. This is overall an ineffective school.Kids in the school are smart and they share answers of school and national tests. Because of teacher shortage, they randomly hire teachers who are not qualified and retain current teachers who do not teach.

This school is just weird. The kids there try to hurt themselves because it’s all about competing and it’s scary. Glad I moved.

I am a student at Hopkins for 2 years 2022-2024 This school can't improve since it's just too good. Also, the construction made Hopkins look a lot better than the original one. I recommend Mr. Miller or Mrs. Das or Mrs. Alexander, those three are the best!

This school is great for competition, great friends, great teachers (some are boring and strict), etc. This is an amazing experience for me so far. I have made more friends, became more confident, and started having more fun. I totally recommend this school. I didn't rate this school a 5 because some teachers don't care about what kind of learning the students want. But other than that, the office staff, HST (Hopkins Spirit Team aka Leadership Elective aka TUPE Leaders), students are great!

My daughter graduated Hopkins last year(2017) and she enjoyed her junior years life a lot. I have to special thanks to Mr. Conway. Other than the strong academic requirement, my daughter learnt that there was so fun in Music thru her school years. Everyone worked hard in the orchestra and band to bring honer to themselves and the school. Study environments were positive in last two years (Students were friendly and worked hard and I did not see a sign of bullying) . Only couple individual teachers were not effective and you could not expect too much as everyone should understand the ratio between the teachers and the students. I got more upset on some monster parents always complained this and that because the teachers did not give their kids' an A. Hopkins is a great school and my kid loves it and I appreciate all the hard working teachers and staff.

If you are looking for committed teachers, this is not the school. If your kids excel in a competitive environment, this is the school.

i am a seventh grader at hopkins 2016-2018, and so far it's been awesome. the teachers teach the concepts very well, and if you ask them, they will reteach it. Some teachers even have time afterschool for you to go and visit them to either ask a question about what they taught , or learn something new. Hopkins is a very friendly community as well with very little issues with bullying, it's mostly only friendly teasing. Some teachers don't really care about what you do, and just assign random things just for the sake of school, but there are very few teachers like this. all of the elective courses are fun and engaging and you have a wide variety of choices, from a language, to computer skills to art.hopkins really pushes you to make you the best, and helps you a lot throughout school,it is also a very competitive school, but nonetheless it is one of the best in academics, sports, and anything else that you could think off. i am proud to be a Hawk and you will be too if you are going to hopkins. Good Luck!!!!!!

Agree with the earlier review on math and science very poor support, teachers simply dont care... as they dont seem to have consequences for not supporting student... school performs due to afterschool support from parents....

I'm an 8th grader in 2015-2017. The school environment is friendly and bullying isn't really an issue. Most of us are too busy stressing over grades to be bothered. The academic pressure is high but mostly due to the students and parents. Some teachers here are amazing who actually care about whether or not you're learning while others are lazy who just blindly assign essays and homework and don't teach at all. The school caters to a mostly Asian demographic (I would say around a 90-95% but I can't be sure). The music program is exceptional and around 1/3 of the 1,000 students at the school are a part of it. Most students are pushed to doing an insane number of extracurriculars though. Homework can be pretty rough too; time spent can range from 2hrs.-6hrs. on days of tests (or maybe I'm just really bad at prioritizing time). It just depends on which teachers you have. The principal, Mr. Brown (our old vice principal) is amazing and cares about the students. Overall my experience at this school has been pretty good. Hopkins provides a community in which the student can thrive but stress and pressure is definitely an issue. A lot is expected of the students. GOOD LUCK MAN.

I raised an issue up to the principle about one of the school's activity where the selection process was unfair and unprofessional. Student’s name and contact info were entered into the computer during MAZE day for the activity and we were anxiously waiting for updates from school newsletter. After a week, we were excited to see the parent information night notice posted in the newsletter. However, on the weekend just before the event, we received an email to inform that the application was rejected by a lottery draw and that the students/parents should not attend the scheduled info night. We were surprised and disappointed that there was no information about a lottery taking place or a date/time/place for the lottery. I inquired and was informed by the principle that the activity admin claimed that lottery system was fair but did not answer my question on when the lottery took place and why parents/students were not invited to the lottery. First, we were not informed of a lottery during sign up and then, a closed door lottery with no parents/students to witness such a sought after activity seems questionable. The email from the principle just shuts the door and there is no way I can get help from. Seems like a cover up or sort. The students have no opportunity to present themselves or to tell why they want to join the activity....just a No by an invisible Lottery.

I'm a seventh grader at Hopkins but I love it so far. The teachers are nice, the material is interesting, and the library is awesome. There are lots of clubs and electives to suit everyone's interests. Our school is the best in academics, sports, and anything else you can come up with. GO HAWKS!
