We have received supports for special education that have exceeded our expectations. The integration of social emotional learning (SEL) into the curriculum is palpable in a good way - encouraging kids to feel engaged and emotionally safe. Great community with high engagement. Inquiry-based learning seems to 'reach' many kids in ways that traditional public school doesn't. The grounds may be lacking grass compared to nearby schools but the kids seem to have plenty of fun out there anyway.

RVC is a really welcoming community, not just for the kids but also for the parents. We found our village here. Inquiry learning is a new “buzzword” in education, but it’s not new here. Teachers at RVC (formerly MAP) have been using this style of teaching in multi-age classrooms for over 25 years. RVC is a school of choice. Every single family chooses to be there. And because of that, every teacher chosen to teach there is exceptional. No one is mailing it in. There’s a reason parents from all over Marin drive their kids here.

This is our first year at RVC and so far we've had a really positive experience. The teachers are incredible, the director is responsive and caring and the families are very involved. There's a real sense of community and inclusiveness and being able to get things done that we didn't experience at our district public school. The inquiry based learning is really unique and is a strength of the school, but the academics and curriculum are equally important and are not overlooked. In fact, they are beautifully woven together in a way that our kids are really thriving with. At our first expo I was moved to tears to see my kids getting engaged in learning in a way that felt really unique and special. I know there were some families that left last year due to behavioral issues but the school seems to be addressing things in an active and positive way and that goes a long way to show that while it's not a perfect school, they are willing to engage the community in a way that feels positive if not perfect. Highly recommend this school if you are looking for and inquiry/arts integrated learning experience, family involvement and dedicated/caring teachers and staff.

We love this sweet school! It feels like there are a lot of likeminded families here who value diversity, inclusion, kindness, respect and the importance of approaching children with a wholistic approach. We like the inquiry based learning and have seen our sons love of learning flourish. We also feel like we hit the jackpot with Ms Amy because she’s beyond incredible.

We love RVC! Their pedagogy considers the whole student and priorities cultivating socially, emotionally and environmentally conscious students. We saw a noticeable and very welcome difference when our children joined the school. Their world view, empathy and awareness expanded in a beautiful way. The teachers focus on teaching the kids the joy of learning with a growth mindset versus forcing a fixed mindset on how to learn. The test scores speak for themselves!

I am a mother of two graduates of Ross Valley Charter School, and thought I would share only a few of our experiences at RVC:~RVC provides a more multi-racial student body with higher State testing score than our local school district. My child’s State testing was unbelievably low while attending our local school district, until we started at RVC. ~The student body is so full of diverse families, that teaching is not only happening from teachers, but the children are teaching each other through their own life experiences whether that be culture, traditions, food, play, language or gender identity.~Both my girls came home happy from school and eager to go in the morning. ~The learning environment, teachers, all the staff and parent volunteers, provide such an enriching learning environment, not only for the students, also thoughtful caring support to the entire family unit. This brings education full circle and meets the needs of the families as a whole. ~RVC was and still is our extended family!

I have three children at RVC and we feel so lucky to be there! The school is small enough to feel more like a co-op. It’s new enough to be open to ideas and parent input, with dynamic teachers and staff. It’s a little gem!

My overall experience of the school is very positive. It has a very unique program and they seem to work hard to tune in to each student and family. They seem to go out of their way to understand what each student needs. It is a very diverse community and they put in the extra work to make sure that everyone is included and that we all appreciate where everyone is coming from. The diversity especially is very different from our previous school in Marin and I think that's so important for kids to learn about kids that come from different backgrounds, languages, etc.

We've been attending RVC for almost a year and we are very happy with the teachers, philosophy, and our child bounces out of bed to school. He is thriving.

Awesome community that made it easy to transfer in mid-year. Lots of support from staff and from the families and PTA council group. School isn't run like a numbers game - kids get what they need in class and pulled out for specialists and counseling.

RVC is the perfect school for my child and my family. Development approach is completely rounded and my child has not only the constructs to learn, and the security and confidence to excel.

School is very contntious in community which definitely affects kids. No big difference with public schools in area and Manor does a much better job with project based learning.

RVC has been a game-changer for our kids, especially our oldest who had a few years in the traditional program at our local school. The close-knit environment and engagement between the teachers and other classrooms has really given them a sense of place, and the multi-age aspect really creates a lovely dynamic. The teachers work very closely with each other and get to know the children very well. Academically, it's been a success as well, and I've found that the teachers track academic progress very effectively. Plus, with the enrichment programs, everything they want to do is on site.
