We've had 2 children attend Mannor, and it has been a nurturing, positive, engaging experience overall. The Manor community is small, thoughtful and supportive. There are many opportunities to be involved with the school and community outside of the usual PTA, including the school garden and the school play, and with each classroom. The teachers are patient and engaged. If you are seeking a warm and supportive school experience for your child, Manor fits the bill.

Manor Elementary School in Fairfax is amazing and we are so thrilled to be part of this community! Our TK daughter is thriving. The staff is skilled, the setting is beautiful, and the school has so many resources. Our daughter enjoys a full library on campus, music classes, art classes, in addition to the incredible assemblies and guest speakers and well thought out curriculum. So far this year, there has been an expert on owls, and an owl came to the class, Wild Care visited and she learned about local animals, and next a bat expert will visit and she will get to see one up close. Her TK teacher is highly skilled with her age range, and the class runs smoothly, there is plenty of play time in the class and also during recess and lunch. TK/Kinder and 1st grade enjoy their own playground, and TK/K has private entrances through a tiny garden so it feels like a very protected and special space for the little ones. Every time I have visited the kids seem so happy and independent. It's also helpful to know that the Manor team has many educational support systems and staff including a wonderful speech therapist, counselor and school psychologist. The parent community is also very welcoming which was important to us too. People often look to local charter schools for their kids, thinking they have more to offer. But I highly recommend families do a lot of research, and speak to as many teachers and families as possible, and not make any assumptions. We discovered that Manor has SO much to offer and goes above and beyond. Our daughter is not naturally inclined to jump into new situations, and having been a pandemic toddler, speaking to adults is hard for her. The Manor staff has created such a warm, friendly, and emotionally safe environment, she is blossoming. She speaks, she has friends, and she loves her school.

We love Manor Elementary! The entire community at the school is incredibly supportive. The school develops creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking. Our son has really flourished and excelled at Manor. The teachers design engaging projects that often involve the entire school community. The art and music classes are exceptional. Our son has advanced in math and reading thanks for the approach of Manor faculty.

I switched to Manor from one of the local charters and am SO glad that I did! I see enthusiastic, progressive, student-driven teaching in action every day. My child is making huge academic strides and is just bouncing with enthusiasm for learning. We love being part of the local community and have found it welcoming and filled with committed parents who dedicate many volunteer hours to nurturing all of our community’s children. I'm ashamed that I somehow thought I could find something better at a charter when what I really wanted for my child was right here at my neighborhood school. Don't be taken in by glossy videos or an exclusive "lottery" system. Live the values that attracted you to Fairfax in the first place and send your child to your truly public school - you won't be sorry.

My two children are at Manor now, currently in the 3rd and 4th grades. Overall their experience has been wonderful. The teachers are excellent, devoted, and inspiring. Kindergarten was magical. The learning is a beautiful balance of independent responsibility with work that is hands-on and project based. My children learn about the environment, poetry, history, art, music, math, and beyond, they are also avid readers.Happily, Manor has recently entered into a partnership with EL Education (aka Expeditionary Learning). This research based, academically rigorous approach is the gold standard for project based learning. This alignment has only brought more depth and richness to this already excellent school; providing a framework for the teachers and assuring alignment through the grades. Our entire family is deeply involved and connected to the warm and welcoming community at Manor Elementary School.

My older daughter attended Manor from grades 3-5 and had a great experience, and I believe it prepared her well for the success she enjoys in high school, both academically and socially. My younger daughter has been at Manor K-4th grade (present), and I have been impressed by the school's leadership, its attention to making the students good citizens who are social and kind, and its excellent teaching staff. The school is safe and inspiring. What more could a parent ask for? I give Manor School my top recommendation.

Amazing. I will admit I had some anxiety about the school before we started, largely for personal reasons. Manor teachers truly showed how wonderful they are, getting to know our kids before they started Kindergarten. The school and the parents in the community are truly like extended family to us.

I have two daughters at Manor, in 4th and 1st, and every step of their school experience has been a joy for them. My youngest has fine motor skill issues, and I've noticed how her K and 1st gr teachers have been encouraging, thoughtful and thorough in addressing her needs. Love the teachers, the staff, the entire community here - a wonderful group of folks.

Manor School has had a long tradition of supporting students with a diversity of needs as well as creating a nurturing and supportive environment for the community. We are alumni of Manor as well as parents of a child there currently. We moved here to give our child the opportunity for a long-lasting love of education and to experience the amazing community therein. The teachers and administration play a pivotal role in the success and love of education that is witness in this school community. I can't say enough about Manor. We were welcomed with open arms and have had wonderful experiences with teachers and parents alike.

Our son has thrived at Manor -- he loves school, gets lots of 1:1 attention to help him succeed, and the teachers are excellent across the board. We feel so fortunate to attend such an exceptional public school!

Low quality teaching with an emphasis on developing "emotional intelligence" at the expense of all other forms of intelligence. Academics is downplayed in favor of making sure the kids are happy and having fun. If you want your child to possess the academic skills required to succeed then don't send them here.

Wonderful community at this school. We all adored the teachers our kids have had to date as well as the other students and parents. We've appreciated the collaboration from teachers and administration in guiding our children's education. Both our kids have done well here. I have heard that there have been some student behavior issues but in the six years we've been there, I've never witnessed anything and the friends my kids have had have all been truly great kids. It's been the right fit for us.

Overcrowded and full of badly behaved kids. Low on academics too. Worst of the RVSD schools.
