We have been very impressed with White Hill. There is a strong sense of community from the collaboration and investment between staff, families and students. Strong academics and excellent theater arts and music program. We really appreciate the leadership at this school and the teachers who are demonstrably invested in the growth and support of the student body.

Challenges them academically, exceptional music program, healthy campus environment

Rampant bullying. School is more concerned with being woke than the basics of teaching kids how to be kind, inclusive, and not bully.

Teachers really engaged my son in a meaningful way. They helped him figure out how to advocate for himself which IMHO the private schools hand hold and coddle too much. The music program is excellent, especially the strings teacher. Going to our public middle school also keeps us connected to our neighbors/neighborhood that you can't find elsewhere. They have upgraded their math department and have a new principal who is highly emotionally intelligent. I looked around at the private schools and we feel lucky to be associated with this school.

The school is lacking in lots, The school has a very bad math program, There is lots of bullying, The principal dose not care about his job, Some of the teachers do not know what they are doing, some teachers are sexist and rude, The school is underfunded a lot, For such a rich county like Marin and California in general. The music art and poetry are founded by the Yes Foundation, California taxes are very high why can't they afford that stuff.

Excellent and feel lucky to have a public school of this caliber available to us in this community. Haven't heard any negative experiences from my child's friends parents either, except for the fact that our 6th graders had to smush in with the 7th & 8th graders to accommodate the Charter school takeover of our 6th grade wing.

We gave White Hill five stars last year. This year, it makes a precipitous drop to two starts. The fact of the matter is the new principal is a Level 3 leader. A mere middle manager who lacks vision. He's a bureaucrat more concerned with the $70/day/student than moving White Hill in a positive direction. The loss of Principal Finnane is felt deeply by the student and parents. The only saving grace is the hard work of the teachers who continue to strive valiantly despite a tragic lack of leadership.

This school is great if you have a straight A type of student. If your child does not quite fit a typical mold then he/she will struggle. My child's self esteem plummeted at Whitehill and needed medication for depression and anxiety half way through the year. Teachers act like they are doing everything to support your child but it's disingenuous. I removed my child. I couldn't watch the decline any further.

Great new administration, great new facilities, enthusiastic teachers, responsive support staff. This is not the White Hill of the past. Your experience may vary.

The principal never stops fundraising. Teachers are bored and seem frustrated with their lives. Parent in this community are mostly apathetic Stepford types. Grade inflation is rampant and is the primary reason White Hill seems to provide a good education. Poor kids.

I generally do not post, but need to when I see the bottom negative post from a child who apparently is having difficulty. Both my children attended White Hill and are now top performers at Drake and Marin Catholic (baseball scholarship) respectively. My oldest will be attending Stanford as well. It is because of the White Hill faculties progressive leadership and thinking outside of the box to achieve educational excellence this is possible. I will never be able to thank or say enough good about this amazing middle school.

UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE!!! Forget every single thing these staff and parents have said, forget the positive comments, and most of all FORGET WHITE HILL!!! I Have only been here for two years, and it has so far been a terrible experience. There are some nice teachers who are fun, but they are usually manipulated by the students. The strict teachers, always send the wrong kids to the office. The Principal is good at impressing parents and fixing the school, but he has a long way to go. In the past, the students that attended have commited suicide, dealt drugs, impregnated each other(this happened on campus), and carried weapons. At one time, the school had four different principals in one year. All in all, if you are planning to move here and cannot afford private schooling, think it over, if you live here and cannot afford other schooling, you are stuck. If you have the choice, check out Kentfield, or Mill Valley.

I just called the school - White Hill - to ask what time a track meet was this afternoon at the school ; I was told " I am not sure but I think it might be .." to which I said " may I talk to someone who knows what time the meet is please .." - then I was asked whether I might call the school White Hill was competing against to find out ..! And he sounded irritated when I balked . Ummm ; bad form White Hill .

My son attended White Hill and can say that we could have asked for nothing more in the way of a challenging curriculum combined with outstanding instruction (courtesy of a first rate teaching faculty). He now attends Drake with confidence and high optimism largely from the learning set he took with him from White Hill.

I love this school. In a word, White Hill is the kind of public school I remember when I was in middle school. The kids are allowed to attend a safe, comfortable, hassle-free school environment that extracts all of their potential and as importantly, dreams. The teachers are enthusiastic, and truly care about teaching the children and preparing them for what lays ahead in life. The Principal is a true leader, and leads by example. The school is located in possibly one of the most ideally locations possible, and if pressed to offer a suggestion of improvement or con .. I do not know how perfection can be improved upon BRAVO!

One of the parents tuned me into this site (greatschools.org) and encouraged me to post here to get the word out on White Hill. Simply, FANTASTIC!! FANTASTIC!! FANTASTIC!! This is a California public school who has gotten it right. The learning environment is healthy, thought-provoking, caring (strict when necessary) and successful! The children (all of them) thrive and excel at this exceptional school; and view education as a positive pathway to accomplish their future goals and aspirations. We moved here from Del Mar Middle School in the Reed (Tiburon) School District (one of the best nationally) and felt we may be doing our children a scholastic disservice boy were we wrong! Although Del Mar is hard to beat; however, from what I have experienced and witnessed at White Hill, the curriculum, enthusiastic instruction led by spirited teachers, enrichment and thought-provoking learning environment, would rank this middle school every bit as accomplished as Del Mar. My wife and I are now completely settled in our decision to relocate from Tiburon to San Anselmo, primarily due to the exceptional school system, more specifically, White Hill.

The below poster motivated me to post as well. Moved to San Anselmo from Larkspur where my daughter attended Hall. She now attends White Hill Middle School and LOVES it! The Principal if focused, no nonsense and goes above and beyond the call of duty to be helpful. The Teachers are simly amazing! My daughter is being challenged much more so than she was at Hall, and more importantly. Her grades have improved immensely! White Hill has figured out how to cultivate young minds, and prepare them for the future. The kids who attend are kind, cheerful, accepting and helpful. I love these kids! We enjoy each and every day our daughter attends White Hill, and pray that when she graduates 8th grade, Drake can pick up where White Hill left off. Let me end my saying that White Hill is in my opinion the finest middle school in Marin!

Not sure about the sour grapes post below, however, I can say that White Hill is an extraordinary, progressive and challenging educational experience for my child. The faculty is first rate, the class work challenging, friendly and engaging students - this place is truly the enchanted villiage of schools. The best kept secret in all of Marin, and want to make no secret that it is a great privlege and honor for our son to attend this wonderful school, where he is receiving a first rate education! The only way to improve White Hill, extend it to grades 9 through 12. I highly recommend this school for those wishing the best overall education experience for their children! My wife and I sleep better at night and smile more knowingour son attends this school. Any question ow we feel about this fine school? :o)
