SPU is the school of our dreams and I thank God everyday that we found this little school in the valley. The parent/teacher/staff collaboration is like nothing I’ve seen or experienced at any school in Escondido. My children are loving 1st grade and kindergarten. There are a ton of opportunities for parents to participate. Go Saints!

All four of my children have attend San Pasqual Union School (SPU) since 2009. I can whole-heartedly say SPU provides a fantastic K-8 education with a nurturing environment and dedicated teachers. The engaging curriculum and diverse extracurricular activities support students' academic and personal growth. The strong community involvement and “family” like atmosphere make it a top choice for families seeking a well-rounded education for their children.

San Pasqual Union Elementary is an exceptional school. My child has been attending SPU since kindergarten and will be entering fifth grade this coming school year. The entire staff, from the Administration, office personnel, to the teachers and volunteers, is outstanding. Their dedication creates an incredibly welcoming environment, making SPU a fantastic place for children. The school boasts a strong sense of community, with many individuals committed to enhancing its quality. The teachers excel at making learning enjoyable, engaging students, and inspiring them to return eagerly day after day.

A hidden gem. Have had a student at DPU from preschool through 7th. TheMost underfunded school in the county yet a supportive environment, small classes, and a real sense of community.

San, Pasqual Union, such a terrible school, the teachers treat the kids with disrespect, and then they expect the students to be respectful towards them. The teachers act as if they care about the students mental health, but then they try to get you in trouble which most of the time causes issues at home. Sampa squall does not own up to what they say, the students are not paid attention to, and are constantly getting in fights and constantly have drama going on.

San Pasqual Union School is a gem! My daughter started there last year for Kindergarten and we found the school to be well organized, well led, and a fun, engaging place for learning. Parent involvement was encouraged and they had wonderful programs, such as a school garden and art program for all grades. She was motivated to have good character by the ongoing hope to win a SOAR award, and social emotional learning is infused into the school in a variety of ways. My daughter felt content and thrived! The pandemic has brought challenges, but the school has worked really hard to make the school a safe place where the kids can still go to learn. My daughter attends a hybrid program and goes to school 5 mornings a week and then does virtual learning in the afternoon. They've also maintained a virtual options for families that don't feel safe or if your kid has symptoms and needs to learn from home until they are shown to not be Covid positive. My daughter gets to go learn with her friends, who are kept carefully in a cohort, even during recess, but also has learned to follow safety protocols with masks, hand santizer, and social distancing. Her teacher, Mrs. Macias, is so kind, organized, and engaging! We couldn't ask for more during this challenging time! Mr. Burroughs (Superintendent and Principal) and Mrs. Lee (Assistant Principal) are great, regularly communicating with families and students and making themselves accessible for concerns. I look forward to the pandemic passing and getting back to the day to day of a regular school day, as well as special events they offer, such as the Harvest Festival and Art and Garden Day!

We have had two years of experience at this school, from preschool to 6th grade. The phenomenal teachers created a warm and inviting experience for the kiddos which helped when moving from another town. The children excelled in their test scores, they had a tight social network and a great community environment. We feel blessed to have moved into the neighborhood and found the perfect place to educate our children. They are not just learning but learning to be compassionate, well connected, friendly and successful.

This little school is amazing from the inside out. Great teachers, great administration and great students. Our experience with the teachers so far is that they truly want every student to succeed and will go the extra mile to help any kid that is trying to succeed. One of our children transferred into the school almost a full grade behind and within a year she was up to grade level and has been on honor roll ever since. I have nothing but positive things to say about San Pasqual Union. The sense of community it has built between the school, parents and students is priceless and in an age when children are growing up too fast this school truly focuses on character and great values right along side of academics.

Be careful at this school.so cute on the outside but LACKING in the inside on good leadership and great teachers.Focus on high paying families and kids who fit in their perfect boxes. Stuck with their teachers they have because of having such a tiny district. The superintendent is not well liked by her staff, parents or students.

This public K-8 school is a hidden gem. Feels like a private school atmosphere, good communication, offers great pre-K program plus before and after school program (we have used both), great parental involvement, school foundation raises funds to support PE, Music, Drama, etc that would not be possible without the extra funds as those were the first to go with state cuts. They have after school spots for middle school, running club for all, choir, cheer, etc. It's near the gated Rancho San Pasqual community but we don't live there...still feel welcomed, you get what you give on that front! Have two kids there in 4th and 8th in the fall...and have really liked the teachers and school experience there for both kids and it has been great to have them together at the same school for so long even with the 4 year age difference. Highly recommend SPUS.

The little school in the valley is a great school. The teachers are amazing and the atmosphere feels like family. It's not a big school so that's one of the things that I was attracted to. I feel like my children are receiving the best education there is in escondido.

We have been grateful to have our kids enrolled in this school for the last several years. The elementary school has been great for my oldest and the pre-K is excellent. Each teacher that we have encountered has been caring and dedicated to their students. The pre-K program is second to none and the quality of the curriculum is unmatched in the area. I continue to be amazed at what my preschooler has learned in a few short months. The administration is attentive and very involved with the day-to-day activities of the students. This is a small public school that has the feeling of a private school. All CA schools are making tough choices with reduced funds, but this school continues to put the needs of the kids and families first and makes the best of what they have! We will be moving out of state soon and we will miss this community and this school tremendously! We have not encountered an issue with excessive homework as well...my oldest has homework most nights but it is never an unreasonable amount. The school regularly communicates with families, using phone messages, Wednesday Folder, emails, etc. Our experience at this school continues to be a positive one.

Generally a good school for K-5. But the middle school has a multitude of issues starting with the woman who ran it in her roll as Vice Principal. Her discipline methods were iron-fisted and ineffective. She was demoted, thankfully, but too late for those of us who had to endure the middle school years with her at the helm. The SPA kids created another set of social issues that were not handled very well by the administration. Last, but certainly not least, is the out of control "homework for homework's sake". Parents are encouraged to cut back on their children's after school enrichment activities in order to give them more time for homework. Expect 2-3 hours a night in middle school. Say good bye to dance class, Pop Warner and music lessons. The school has very little enrichment to offer the students outside of the academics, which puts the parents and students in a no win situation.

This is a fantastic school that has so much to offer considering its size and limited resources. Being a 1 school, school district, funds are limited, yet commitment of the staff is not. If you are looking for a small (private school like atmosphere) school, where your child will not get "lost" in the crowd, this is a great option. It is true that if you have a child with special needs you may be frustrated with the resources available to you. If your child truly needs extra resources they might be better served in a larger district that can provide more options. Coming from a family of educators, we truly feel blessed that our children are being educated in this environment.

SP is an outstanding school with an API of 889. There is a caring staff who takes pride in providing wonderful opportunities for all students. The ELL program sponsors a tutoring program after school, monthly parent educational meetings with opportunities for parent education, technology opportunities, and small group instruction each day utilizing the AVENUES PROGRAM. The GATE program provides hands on learning and research opportunities for students in grades 4-8. All students have the opportunity to participate in music programs, (band, chorus, general music), after school sports, cheerleading, Science Fairs, our state of the art technology lab, our outdoor garden program, and educational field trips including the Marine Science Floating Lab, Sixth grade outdoor education week, and a special science program at the San Diego Zoo's Safari Park for our 4th. graders including animal visits, a sleepover in the park, and special events. This one school district stands out as a jewel as the "Little School In the Valley." Our goal is to meet the needs of our diverse population, providing every student with a world class education.

For average to above average general education students this is a terrific school. But for those students who have special needs this school struggles mightily to provide services for these students. We have had to move or special needs student to another school after almost 3 years of trying to work with SPU.
