It's week 2 of school and the entire school is a mess. They are very understaffed, and it seems like no one knows what its going on. Also, anyone with a child is allowed to enter the gate at drop off. There is no system in place to ensure that the people entering are classical families. I have expressed concerns about the communication and the lack of support for parents and it has been handled very poorly by leadership. They are all talk and we will be switching over to Pacific Coast Academy.

I had a lot of issues with their curriculum policy. The school lets you decide if you want to use their curriculum or if you want to use a different curriculum.I chose to use my own and save my funds for other things. They said they would not order the instructional book that I chose because it was something they already have on campus. So I am not allowed to order a book on its own of something that they already have unless I get it from them in a set which takes up more funds than I want to give. They’re unwilling to work with you and just say sorry this is our policy. I thought I was joining a school that wants the best for their students and wants to support the parents but this is not what this school is. Don’t be fooled you will go to orientation and they will sell you on how much they work with parents but they don’t. No one explains how the funds work so you’re left using up all your funds on a curriculum that’s not valued at what they charge you for it. Try heritage or PCA instead. PCA gives you double the homeschool funds !

We left Bernardo to come here and wow what a difference. I feel like we are truly in a family of a school and everyone works together. The parents are all like-minded and love to put their all into learning. The teachers are phenomenal. The outlines to assist with learning are spot on as well. Well done TCA!

This is our first year. We love the homeschool aspect along with the enrichment classes our daughter takes 2 days out of the week. We also have the freedom to choose our own curriculum (as long as it’s approved for standards) and we work at our daughter’s pace. This school has many opportunities for activities, field trips, and has heavy parent involvement. My daughter LOVES this school! She previously attended a regular public school, and there were too many issues to list here.... she dreaded it, and finally we had enough. We heard about Classical Academy through word of mouth by other parents... the BEST way to know is to hear this way. This is publically funded, tuition-free, award winning, not sure what else I could want. It does take time since a parent must homeschool 2-3 days per week, but it is more than worth my daughter loving learning. She is excited everyday to do homeschool, and just as excited to go to the campus a few times a week and see her friends. Classes offered are excellent. Teachers are wonderful. I 100% recommend you check this school out!

This is our first year attending. The new location is wonderful! The staff and teachers are all so helpful. I love everything about this school and this blended way of teaching. The curriculum and assignments are easy to follow. My daughter loves going to school twice a week and always looks forward to seeing her teachers and classmates. Every parent I've met and talked to feel the same way I do about The Classical Academy. I would highly recommend this school if you are looking for a blended traditional/homeschool experience.

I want to be clear I'm speaking for the Classical Academy in Vista. While the school itself was somewhat adequate, the teachers didn't seem as involved or close to the kids as they were at Coastal Academy (the sister school in Oceanside). I also felt the kids who attended here were a bit out of control too. They were wild and just all over the place. The thing is that parents volunteer here so if their kids misbehave they kind of get a free pass to still be there and get away with it. I'd recommend going to Coastal Academy instead. They are stricter with the kids and have better policies and structure to keep the kids in line, but also ensure respect to adults and teachers.

The teachers are wonderful and there are many opportunities to guide your child's education and give them the balance of time with peers. I hoped to make Classical the place where we sent all of our children, and in fact, hope to return someday. However, we have a child diagnosed with special needs (ASD) midway through the school year. The school was simply not as equipped as other public schools to deal with my student's special needs. When there was an incident, my student was sent home. Finally, we were told not to be on campus unless a parent or family was present at all times. Other schools in Escondido train both teachers AND students about autism and make this a part of their overall school culture. I asked if they had a social skills class to help my student learn to understand his peers and was told that there were no other students that age with those special needs. Where were they then? Were they all at home, or like us, did they transfer to a school with more support? I know that it is not fair to ask a school to do everything- be homeschool friendly, special ed friendly, etc..., but I wish that this was made clearer up front.

This is our fifth year at The Classical Academy. Our fourth and second grader are thriving, love to learn, and enjoy the alternating days of on-campus and at-home instruction. I have found the staff to be responsive to any questions I have had. The classroom teachers are helpful, encouraging, and caring. The blend of classroom instruction and homeschooling continues to be an excellent choice for our family.

I have 3 children at this school and they have been attending for the past two years. They all really love it and so do I! They best part is there are so many options to meet the needs of each student. We have tried all tracks: A,B,C and M. At this point I have two on C track and only one of them takes selective classes one day a wk. I also have one on M track. This school meets each child's needs individually. All children don't learn the say way or in the same type of environment so that is why I think TCA works for many families. As a parent you have do have to put in a lot of time teaching your children and volunteering. So it is no walk in the park. You get what you put into it; well adjusted, educated children! Can't beat that, right?!

An awesome pubic school that offers the option to homeschool 100% or 50% of the time, while giving students small traditional classrooms, elective classes, extra curricular sports and activities, and parents hands-on assistance with curriculum. Their Musical Theater program is award-winning. You will not find another school with such a strong parent involvement and a genuine community of teachers, administrators and families that care about education!

When it came time for my son to start kindergarten, I was set on homeschooling him. I was a bit nervous about him not having as much social interaction, though, and a friend of ours told us about her school - The Classical Academy - where we could home school him and still have workshop days with other students in a classroom setting. We researched it, visited the facility and met some of the staff. We were sold. I had found the best solution for my boy and I was very excited to see how it all came together. We have not been disappointed.

Classical Academy, Escondido provides students with a top notch education which includes character development and helps them to become thinkers, communicators, and achievers. It has been my school of choice for my kids in their K-8 years since 1999 and my family couldn't be happier with the education our kids have received. Among the factors which make Classical Academy great are outstanding administrators, high quality teachers and staff, and high parent involvement. We love our school!!!

It's an amazing environment where kids take accelerated classes in small classrooms where teachers and students care about each other and there there is little tolerance for things that distract kids from typical high schools.

My children have attended K-8 at The Classical Academy. We've stayed for so many years because they've given us to tools to educate our own children, and the support and freedom to educate at home. I can't say enough good things about them.

My kids have been at this school for 6 years now and we love it. It's the best mix of homeschool and traditional school. At TCA the staff really do care about the families, it really is a great partnership. We love TCA and all they offer and the joy and value they have brought to our family relationships and my kids friendships with students and one another.
