I feel so lucky to be a part of the Miller Elementary Community. It is a small school with a big heart. Every teacher truly cares for the children and if you choose to be, you can be involved in every step of your child’s education. Administration has always been quick to fix any issues and lines of communication are always open. Lots of fun events for the family planned throughout the year. Lots of afterschool clubs and activities, including after school childcare available.

If you have the ability to request a transfer, you should. This school is pathetic. The new principal loves to argue with parents and talk down to them. The kindergarten teacher needs to consider retiring. She has been doing it for so long, you can tell she is over it. She is aggressive with her manners and she is always "yelling and in the red zone" according to our child. We switched our child to San Marcos and it is so much better there. Our child has stated that their new teacher isn't mean/angry like their last teacher at miller. Escondido school district is dismissive of bullying and their director of ISS also doesn't care either. We submitted our concerns as multiple parents have reported bullying at miller but EUSD sweeps it under the rug. I feel sorry for the children stuck at that school because the teachers and staff at EUSD do not care about child safety and well being.

We have been at Miller 5 years and have 3 children enrolled there (1 with special needs). We couldn't ask for a better place for our kids! The administration and teachers work extremely hard for their students and it shows in the academic and behavioral growth we've seen at Miller over the past few years. It's an amazing school!

This school's teaching capacity is horrible and the staff has the worst attitude and behavior I have ever experience. As a military kid I went to 14 schools total and never did my parents have any issues such as these at central. The school should completely fire and ban ALL their employees from every working at any other schools. Period! The fact that the school writes positive reviews to counter the real reviews is misleading and shows their true colors. Real parents such as myself are thinking about picketing the school for bully and education reasons. Let's join together to stop this school!

I'm not sure what the review is about below. This school is not in military housing, and the current Principal is a "he" not a she. My children attended Miller for 2 school years. It's not a perfect school, however the teachers are wonderful and really invest in laying the foundation for kids to love learning. They organize several events to create a sense of community and school pride. The office staff is warm and bubbly, greeting you with smiles and helpful spirits. It's a great school with small class sizes. Parents are welcome on campus at any time and can help in classes.

Not sure how Mrs. Cowell would be responsible for any child being bullied- we were in her class in Fall 2013 too and i volunteered twice weekly- I never saw bullying nor did I see Mrs. Cowell being too sweet? She is amazing and we were sad with the change in the K schedule that moved us to a new class. Doesn't Mrs. Wisthma teach transitional? Maybe it's a difference in the ages of the childen in the class? My only gripe with the school is that it seems no holidays are celebrated like they are at other schools...I've been told it's up to the principal so not sure how I feel about my son never getting to celebrate holidays with his classmates.

To the response below mine, It's funny that you mentioned that. My daughter was in Mrs. Cowell's class. Yes, she is a sweet teacher, but she's too sweet. Everyday, my husband and I would ask her if she made any friends and the response was always no. She only talked about a girl who bullied her and how other kids would laugh at her. Mrs. Cowell would only ask what was wrong. No disciplinary action was taken whatsoever. Everyday, my daughter would come home in a very bad, unpleasant attitude. We had her switched to the morning class and she now has Mrs. Wisthma. The switch was like night and day! She's happy. She's excited to go to school. She loves her teacher and talks about all of her friends. I thank the principal for accommodating to my request to have her switched. However, I would still rather her go to Bernardo Elementary, LR Green, or Charter, where I'm sure they are much more responsive to parents' requests and less tolerant of bullying behavior.

My son was bullied 3 times at this school by the same kid. Even after reporting it 3 times and meeting with the principal, nothing was done. We finally pulled my son out of the school. One month after we pulled my son out, one of his old class mates mother contacted us and told us that her son was bullied by the SAME kid. She pulled him out also. In my opinion this school needs to hire a principal that is capable of encouraging an environment where kids are being respected and are safe. Mr. Scott was all talk and no action when it came to my son and apparently his friend. Mrs. Cowell is a sweet teacher and has a genuine love for the kids and what she does, its unfortunate her superior lacks the ability to implement an environment where her hard work pays off.
