Dacula Elementary is awful. Anything bad happens to your kids here they will try to cover it up. I bumped into another family whose daughter went through the exact same thing we have with Dacula Elementary, at the playground one day. It is sad that Gwinnett continues to employ Administrators who are so willing to break the law.

I have two sons that have attended Dacula Elementary since 2022 school year. I really like the teachers and activities/clubs that they offer. My sons really like their teachers and I try to be involved and develop personal relationships (think old school parent/teacher) so we can get the best out the experience. Most teachers will provide an outline (study guide) automatically or after requested. They also have Wednesday tutoring (before school) for students that are struggling or need more help. Personally, I see quite a bit of parental involvement and would encourage more for the school to reach academic milestones of previous years. They are using the AKS program for academics which I will be honest I am not a fan of because it's a totally different style of learning especially for Math which is quite different than how I grew up. Some students may have trouble with this program as it is more about applied thinking versus just remembering concepts. They keep parents informed via email and also post on their different platforms (it seems it changes year to year).Neither of my kids have reported any major problems but there have been a couple times that my son mentioned playground changes due to a few bad apples. From what he shares, I can tell they are quick to adjust and respond when problems arise which is good a thing.

This school was awful. Fortunately, my kid spent very little time here. They are horrible at communicating. I never knew what was happening aside from what my child would tell me. My attempts to reach out to the school were typically unanswered. My kid had a sub about 40% of the time and we never knew why.

THEY DO NOT CARE!!!! Please find a school that better fits your needs for your child! My child enrolled in this school for a short time and the experience was not very pleasant; this school is not equipped to handle any Social- Emotional Support and lacks the patience for a child with ADD or ADHD (Special Needs). The special education department went above and beyond to make sure my child had a great IEP and My child felt happy, safe and treated normal with his special ed teacher. This school is more focused on testing and donations, and I advise all parents to beware and have a solid plan in place if their child needs extra support or has Mental/ Behavior problems, they won't be treated kind or fair but will be treated like a problem child instead of a child who needs help and support!

My daughter attended this school almost 3 years I had to change her teacher the first year because the teacher would leave students outside at recess not making sure she had all students accounted for. She left negative comments made up false statements about my child that made absolutely no sense. My daughter 4th grade teacher was okay in the beginning however there was no communication with the parents when there is bullying or things going on while my child was in care of the school. I had to find things out from my child no teacher no principal no one communicated at all. I emailed the teacher and principal absolutely no replies. They offer no extracurricular activities like they should. This School is just no my cup of tea I care about my kids health well being and education. How I see it if they don’t care about a child’s safety how can they possibly care about their education. I only dealt with this school for the bus but it’s 3 other schools closer to my home than this one it’s actually the farthest from my house. I personally don’t recommend unless it’s a last resort.

My child has ADD and the school really came together to devise a plan for her that would give her the best opportunity to achieve at her highest potential. Parents, Administration and teachers come together easily. We are heard. We matter. Our concerns matter and most importantly, EVERY child matters to this school. We will only be leaving this school if we have to relocate.

My two daughters have attended since kindergarten and both love going to school each day. There is a great emphasis on parent involvement, making this feel like a tight-knit community. My second grader is in the FOCUS program and Mrs Vaughn does a fabulous job challenging her kids, while keeping the curriculum fun and fresh. Overall, extremely pleased with this school and its staff members.

Lacks diversity and expects minorities to fail or be classified. There also appears to be academic bias in the curriculum. Although the kids are sitting in the same classrooms, everyone is not getting the same education and the statistic would make it clear who's getting the short end of the stick (minorities).

I love this school so much, and if I ever moved to a different school I would cry .

if you have a child with disability ADD or hearing lost or speech delay ,this will not be school that your want to put your kid ."this will be your worst nightmare " The principal don't know how to manege this tipe of situation but she will do her best to cover her self ", they don't go by the rules the brake a lot of laws and they manipulate the rules .they wont look @ you child as a child that need help or needs to be direct to a program that may help him with his, disability they seen him as a problem for the school . Teacher's are unprofessional there was a case with bullying and was brought up to their attention their answer, was their are kids ,this part of the consequence of my son behavior ,but they knew that his behavior was a manifestation of his disability teacher are very sarcastic with (parent) and mean with the kids . they scream at the kids because they ask a question I saw this with my own eyes at the front desk of the school.

I liked the school in the beginning of the year and loved her original teacher but I'm disappointed that my child had to be pulled into another new 1st grade class due to the amount of kids in the first grade and is not excelling with the new teacher. The administration should really monitor new teachers fresh out of school and ask for feedback from the parents as they may not be equipped with all the right skills for teaching.

A great school with amazing teachers. It feels like such a caring close knit community. Everyone has been so caring and accepting of my daughter's severe food allergies. Both my children have had great teachers who help them learn with teaching styles that fit their individual needs. My son loves science and he always had teachers who helped him explore deeper into math and science. My daughter loves singing and art, and she's always gotten teachers who encourage her creativity.

Children with issues, even very young children, are not treated as if they need to learn but rather as if they are a problem. If your child possibly has an impairment causing behavior issues this is not the school for that child as they will be sent out of the room daily and miss the education and behavior modeling that is needed. A school that chooses to take the easy way out rather than educating all children should not be rated at a 9.

My child attended Dacula Elementary for six years, and it was a wonderful experience for him. The teachers are highly qualified, as well as, caring. I'm grateful that he had the opportunity to be a student there.

When the right opportunity comes I can't wait to put my soon to be 5th grader and soon to be 3rd greater in a better school. My child's kindergarten teacher would group the child by ethnicity during center time and I noticed it. I mentioned it to her during a parent/teacher conference and she just laughed it off. My son had a headache one day and told his teacher, she responded with I'm sure it does . That doesn t make me feel as a parent that you respect and love my child when they re in your care. In another situation with a different teacher I wrote her a question and she responded to my e-mail in a very rude and sarcastic manor and when I addressed it with proof in my hands excuses were made for that teacher instead of making me feel like as a parent I can address anything and get support as a parent and to make sure my child is in a good environment. 2011-2012 and the years before that were not good years and am not looking forward to another year with them. The bus driver was rude, mean with the kids. My daughter came home telling me, mommy the bus driver slammed on her brakes and we all hit the seats in front of us . They also get told to shut up by the bus driver

My daughters, 8 and 10, have always attended DES. We love the school. The teachers are great and really keep in touch with the parents. There is a lot of parent participation in the classrooms. My 10yr old loves the Chorus program and Mrs. Leamon. They have a drama program which the children also love. All the teachers and staff seem to know all the children by name, despite the large enrollment. We're moving this summer and really hate to leave DES !!
