This school has put me through so much trauma I let people say whatever they want to me because said/done worse. I do not like this place whatsoever it is horrible especially if your kid has a talent and wants to shine.

As a former student of this school, I have too much to tell. Let’s start off with the academics. If your child is struggling or excelling this is not the place for them. This school encourages one thing only, “conformity” while I was attending, I was struggling in 3 courses but excelling in the others. Now, the courses I was struggling in had the same teacher. Instead of offering help she threatened my parents that I would be asked to leave the school for my poor grades. I felt like a complete failure and struggled with depression my entire hellish two years there. At the age of 14 I thought this was standard until I went to Catholic high school at St Joseph and they told me that they didn’t leave their students behind. This teacher is still teaching today! I also remember a teacher sending a kid to detention because he didn’t answer “one” question on his homework. He didn’t answer it because he was truly struggling with the question and wanted to ask her for help. I’ve witnessed bullying from teachers to other students but the worst was the racist comments made on the black kids from the other students. Academically, I was made to feel inferior. If your child is artistic you can forget them being challenged or accepted. This is a sports school. Any child that is different will be made to be an outcast. This school feels like something out the 1950s where everyone must conform to brainwashed standards of society. If you want your child to be a non creative, judgemental, and a racist clone then send them here. They will learn to be everything but original. This school did push me academically but at a great cost: I could have just attended a school that would have encouraged me to learn without degrading me. Teachers are supposed to genuinely care for their students. I didn’t learn this until I entered high school and had some of the greatest teachers who believed that I had the potential to achieve something. The two years I spent here were the worst two years of my life. I’ve attended this shool within the last 3 years so I’m sure not much as changed. If you have a kid who’s a little quirky please don’t stifle their potential by sending them here. Send them someplace where they can really grow. Send them to a place where they won’t be made to feel like inferior because they’re different.

We transfered to St. I from another private school in the area because of its commitment to high academic standards. The faculty and staff are constantly looking for ways to improve the curriculum without chasing every fad in the eduacation field or complaining about a 'lack of funds.' They have a tremendous amount of energy which shows in their enthusiasm for their work. Every student is given individual attention. While other schools are cutting programs, St. I still has PE, art, and Spanish as well as other extra curricular activities like cheer and sports. Our family received such a warm welcome that we now attend church at St. I as well. We will have 3 kids in the school come August 2011 and feel that the sacrifices we make are worth every penny for raising well rounded kids.
