lots of bullying and discrimination between students in this school, the staff "raises awareness", but it is not effective because they do not know how to handle actual bullying. the teachers are kind, but most of them do not know how to handle a chaotic classroom nor do they know how to show authority. Another thing about the teachers here is that they play favoritism, which is to my opinion, unfair to other students. overall, i do not recommend this school for your child.

I brought my son here on an interdistrict transfer after hearing about their great STEAM program. So glad I did. The program is amazing and continues on into high school. There are many opportunities for students to get involved (sports, eSports, the arts). Teachers are nice and communicative, administration is responsive to our needs. The "issues" people have raised (like bullying) are no worse than any school anywhere, and my son has said it's just a handful of students who tend to get themselves into drama anyway. I can't believe this school gets only a 6/10 Great Schools rating. It is a hidden gem. I will be bringing my daughter here next year!

If you are either a parent or student that expects common sense and maturity from the staff, do not come to this school. As a former Walker student, I remember having some good teachers, even some great ones. However, the people with control over the school are absolutely incompetent and very disrespectful. While I was attending this school, I had several issues with the staff that were completely unjustified- snide and rude comments to myself personally. The principal is the worst, unfortunately. If a student doesn't listen to what she says without question, they are essentially picked on by the rest of her staff. I even got a remark on my record because I didn't agree with what she said, despite being calm and collected durduring the situation. Don't expect much from the authority of the school except from utter incompetence and ridiculously disrespectful actions with no justification.

I think Walker is a wonderful Junior high, I now have 2 sons that are attending here one in 8th grade and 1 in 7th grade. The teachers and office staff are polite, friendly and always so helpful!!! Thumbs up to Walker great school :)

Appalling student behavior at this school. Many loitering at the 76 gas station taunting customers. Very pathetic.
