This is our first year at Morris with a kindergartener and another to follow next year. This school is amazing! It has challenged my child in so many ways. Mrs moss is absolutely the best teacher and impressed us in so many ways. She takes each individual child spends one on one time and gives them the work they need to challenge themselves. This school is exactly what we want for our children!

Morris was extremely disappointing for us. Our son is a GATE student - no big deal, especially in CA - but he does need to be challenged. He skipped the first grade, so he was younger than his 5th grade peers, who treated him really well. What I objected to the most was his being subjected to hours of coloring and crayoning of inane 'vocabulary' words such as 'pirate' (in the 5th grade, mind you!). They're not learning 'jack,' but if he failed to draw to the teachers' expectations for perfect crayoning, he would then be commanded to re-draw, even if the ludicrous assignment had already wasted two hours of his time. At the Student Orientation, all the 5th grade teachers adamantly announced that they never give 'busy work' to students - that all homework assignments would be meaningful. I was so happy to hear this, but it turned out to be a meaningless, hollow promise, as so much of his voluminous homework was, indeed, nothing but meaningless. If he had had a different teacher, he may have had a very different experience, but we were not so lucky. He teacher was highly inaccessible - never available for brief ad hoc exchanges. Never. She also never smiled.

I wrote an earlier comment regarding this school. I want to confirm a year later that ABC Juliet Morris E.S. is the best. My son still enjoys going to school. At times, I have to wait until he is ready to leave. They have movie time with goodies, finger painting, art that builds hand-eye coordination, you see language arts and math concepts in work samples that kids get to take home and share with their parents, etc. They bake for the kids and have many activities designed into their curriculum. The teachers and staff make us feel comfortable. They offer plenty of fieldtrips for the kids to explore and learn. My son has learned a great deal. It takes an army to raise a child and I am glad to have them all on my team. Thank you especially to Ms. Margie!!!!!! Jayden and I love your spirit!!!

I've been a Morris Mom for 3 years now and I am pleased with all the teachers and staff. My youngest just started kinder and loves all her new friends. The school has a great PTA and lots of activities for parents and the kids. You will love this school !

My kid went to this school since he started kindergarten. He had a great time and always wanted to go back to school. Although he had several teachers that got laid off, they were all great teachers that had amazing skills. There is no bullying and if there is the teachers and principal help right away! He went all the way to 6th grade and now he is attending Oxford Academy! If you are trying to pick an elementary school for your child, I hope you choose this one. Thanks for reading my loooooonngggg review and use it for good use... I highly recommend letting your child go to Morris!

This school has very stronger memories than any other school. Now I I am going to Lexington and I am really nervous.

We love Morris! Ms. Ortiz in first grade has made all the difference to my boy's school year.

Very good school. Miss Ortiz is excellent. Since the school is renovated it is a brand new school.

All the teachers of my child are excellent: they care their students, they work very hard, they are positve and can be funny. I see my child take very serious of her homework, her studay and she seems to truly understand what she learns and she is where she should be, meaning sufficiently challenged while not overwhelmed. This year, I kind of noticed that the always kind and smiling principal seems to be under quite some stress and she yielded at some kids for missing the school bus. Maybe this gets to do with moving to a new school site.

I really like Morris the only problem I have is I think the need to have more award assemblies and I think the should have a promotion ceremony for the Kinder. We have friends in other surrounding districts and they all have positive reinforcement if the the kids see the get awards it makes them try harder to try and get one but at Morris the have 3 awards assemblies and only give 3 awards for each class which means most kids will never get one. I feel this is really sad. What kid does not want to be recognized.

What is up with people giving bad reveiws! sure, the parking lot is crowded but what you have to look at is the scores PEOPLE!!!!! Morris is one of the best schools you could attend and has great scores, plus it's close to Oxford Academy a high school/ junior high thats in the top FIVE, 5, NUMERO CINCO, of the nation of The United States of America, stop dissing the school, tutors DON'T help at ALL.
  • Submitted by parent on April 12, 2011
Let's see over crowding. Need I say more. You have to hire a tutor if you what your child to do well.

School got good grade but most of the parents get help from tutors and academy. They do have some of good teachers.. but not many as well as principal.

Had an amazing camp out experience! I have never seen a principal so involved and engaging! I think I saw her talk to every parent, guardian, grandparent and child at the school. The staff is so friendly to anyone who comes into this school.

It is the first day of school with many more students attending due to school closures within the district. It apeared to me that the principal was not properly prepared for the amount of people that would be dropping off and picking up. Having all parents wait outside of the gate at the entrance to the school in the parking lot created a cluster. It was difficult to find my children and have my children find me. Also, with so many children attending from other schools (that were closed), one would think that letting the children sit with their friends from their previous schools would help with the transition to the new school. At this point in time, I believe that district and the school administrators have not thoroughly thought threw how to handle the amount of children now attending this school.

this school is a great school with the staff and learning. but when it comes to bullying no one will step up and handle the problem.. the principal is new, and will not address any of the bullies at the school. this needs to be fixed or alot of kids are going to be going to different schools. and that is terrible... step up staff and do something!!!!
