my son went to crown point high school and they treated my son so bad I have to take my son out early. my son has a disability and I think either someone is bullying him or teasing and make fun of him because he don't talk to well or one of his teachers talking bad at me they don't like me at all I am too much trouble. I ask the teacher teach my son anything but since my son is in special ed. they refuse to teach him in higher grade. my son's teacher she never gave my son harder work and two doctors told me my son is very smart. I had nothing but trouble with this school and the treasure office keeps saying there is balance on the account for books and supplies why didn't they tell me first of the year. I paid first of year and now I have to pay additional money which to me I already paid why pay again all they said I owed the money. I have no respect from the teacher she sometimes answers my emails and everytime I ask what they do in that classroom all day she refuses to tell me. I am not allowed to know what they do in that classroom like it is big secret. my son can't read to well and he doesn't know no history the teacher and crown point school system refuses to teach my son any history, he doesn't know english, math is low for his age they seem not to worry about it all they want is force me put my son a certificate they say he is to dumb to do harder work. my son does harder work at home and he loves it why can't the teacher gives him harder work. all they give him is baby work he needs harder work so my son can get his high school diploma and two doctors told me he can get high school diploma if the school system teach him anything. the iep is a joke that is more for teacher and the school system everytime I ask put anything on iep or take something off they say oh we can't do that it isn't allowed. if your child has disability like my son my son has add and communication disorder, they should be trying to help my son instead of teaching my son nothing at all. I am putting my son in k12 online which seems much better for my son and they seem to care what I want and I get a teacher who knows how to communicate with the parent lot better and 80% learning online and 20% off line which is good my son is very good on the computer.if I had to do it all over I would just put my son in homeschooling from the start and never put him in public school .

Our experience transitioning from a private school into CPHS last year was outstanding. My child thrived with the honors curriculum and joined choir as well as French, Key Club and Best Buddies. She participated in the talent show and voice lessons. She ended up with 4.14 GPA after freshman year. Teachers were very helpful and clear about expectations. I am so thrilled with this school and expect better things to come for her college!

Crown Point High School is an outstanding public school. It is staffed by great teachers, administrators, and support staff. The school has been the recipient of many awards in state and nationally, including Best High Schools by US News and World Report; America's Most Challenging High Schools by The Washington Post; and Exemplary Grade "A" and Four Star school by Indiana Department of Education. The school is also accredited by AdvancedED Worlwide, an institution advancing excellence in education around the world. Crown Point High School consistently produces many ACT and SAT scholars and a large proportion of the student body are admitted to colleges and universities, both local and national. For example, my own daughter and five of her closest friends have been admitted to the University of Southern California (Resident Honors Program), Indiana University, Ball State University, Northwestern, and Tulane. Their success, as well as many, many others, can be attributed to knowledgeable and caring teachers, challenging classes, the latest in innovative programs, a supportive community, and a positive, hard working, goal oriented student body.

I only attended this school for one year, and I must say, I enjoyed my time here. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because there's barely any diversity, and there are even some racist & stereotypical students that make rude comments that can allow minorities to feel uncomfortable. But those ignorant students weren't my main concern. My main focus was to get an education, and my outstanding teachers made that possible. Not only were there great teachers, but the school itself was just a beautiful place to come to everyday. Personally, I like being able to go to a school that's not raggedy. The place was always clean and had an updated look. Also the lunch was great and worth paying for. The supplies for making sandwiches (bread, lettuce, tomato) were ALWAYS fresh. I'm glad I had the chance to attend this school.

Being a graduate from CPHS may make this post seem biased, or that my opinions are clouded, but believe me when I say CPHS, overall, is an excellent school. Academically speaking, it's brilliant. The teachers are personable, but professional, and exude sincerity in their attempt to teach. Socially speaking, the student body, although not entirely diverse in ethnicity, are diverse in personality, family income level, and interests. It's easy to find friends at this school whom you share similarities and interests. I was a little shocked when I saw a comment saying the student here are horrible, mean, rude, judgmental and materialistic, because you'll find students like that in any school. You'll find people like that in the life, daily. It's a bit naive to think all of the students fit that accusation. Having graduated and gone to college, I can say that some of the nicest people I've met went to CPHS, and aren't in the least, mean, rude, judgmental or materialistic. Overall, CPHS is an excellent school, and it prepared me for college past my expectations, and made me feel safe, liked, and accepted while attending the school.

Disappointed that the school advertised it was in the top 2000 ranked for 2013 in US News and World Report. It isn't. Even the DailyBeast took down the misprint. Crown Point's information is listed along with every other public high school in the US so that US News could show their methodology and we could compare this high school to those that did make the top 2000.

This is the best school ever!! The teachers really care and the environment is great. Of course there is always going to be the snobby kids and occasional bullying but it is nothing compared to the other high schools in this area, I couldn't ask for a better school!

Our family moved from Gary to Crown Point this summer and we could not be happier for the great education this school has provided for our child. We loved Gary and lived there all of our lives but we were tired of failing schools and dangerous surroundings and wanted much better for our children. We did not want to move further from our jobs and the South Shore, but enough was enough. The offerings at CPHS are fantastic! There are so many clubs and activities for the kids and family to enjoy and the people here really do care about their schools. The only downside is that administration does not seem very accessible when needed. However, no place is perfect. Overall, this is a great investment for our children's future. Who says that you can no longer find great schools in great middle class communities? We found it and we will encourage some friends and family to consider this area if they plan to move! Keep up the good work CP!
