Expensive, low quality teachers, a wasted year spent on poor quality “education!” Shop around, parents. You can do much better for your kids!

Our sons are in 5th and 6th grade and have attended Crown Point Christian since the beginning of their academic careers. The teachers and staff provide a welcome learning environment. I cannot speak to some of the older past comments on here regarding diversity but as for the years we have attended, the school seems very diverse. We're white, my sons best friends are not, everyone always seems welcome and comfortable. Parent/teacher communication can always be improved but it has gotten a lot better over the years. During early elementary years we felt our sons were a bit behind the pace of public school but that is not the case anymore. I would assume that's typical for a private Christian school as public schools do not spend time emphasizing Christ. Our family would recommend sending your children to Crown Point Christian.

The school does several things well. It will work well for some kids. But not for all.Great new building, some creative learning opportunities, sports, music, etc. opportunities. This school will work WELL for many kids. There are some fine Christian people on staff who combined love with sound discipline of our child. I would normally rate this school... 4 stars. But the good they did for my child is offset much by 3 main factors...Discipline in junior high was unevenly meted out...my child and a few others I knew seemed to be regularly targeted for harsher discipline while some of their peers got a milder punishment for what seemed to be the same enfraction. My child sometimes dreaded school.Many ...even most teachers were good...a few GREAT. But the few teachers who OPENLY displayed hostility to my child...lost him when their contempt was obvious. (Again, some students will prosper, but if your child has a few moderate discipline issues, consider going elsewhere.)This school seems to be rather isolated from the increasingly diverse world around it. They still don't celebrate DR. ML King day. (It is a "records" day.) This is a minor complaint, but hurtful to any minority student who will get pushback from white friends whose schools mark Dr. King Day.

If you send your child to baseball camp, you are paying for them to learn about baseball, right? And you probably assume that he will be learning about baseball with other children whose parents want the same thing for their children and with other kids that love baseball. Crown Point Christian is a school for parents who want to teach children from a Reformed Christian perspective and have them in school surrounded by kids who love the Lord and are taught the same as them in church as well as school. If you are black or white or hispanic or chinese that is not the point for hiring teachers or accepting students. It just so happens that there the vast majority of people who want this format of education are also white. SO WHAT! All races are welcome if they attend church regularly and sign the statement of beliefs. To suggest that the school should might open enrollment to anyone would change the priority of the school to something else. If a teacher were selected for his or her ethnicity over and above commitment to the beliefs and goals of the school it would be like picking trainers at a baseball camp for their ethnicity regardless of experience and love for baseball.

I don't know why parents are complaining about the diversity. 1. If you want diversity then why are you sending them to a predominately white school in a predominately white area? 2. you are NOT going to get diversity when your school is VERY restrictive on who it lets in. YOU have to sign that you agree with the points of CALVINISM to be accepted or your out. HOW is that charitable? There are other Christian schools that will let you in even if you are of different Christian faiths. Lets not be na ve here.

To rate a school based on a holiday given on a gifted historian~ who regarded education as top priority, is off. I firmly believe, as many others he would want children to be educated on such a day, not at home playing on devices, internet & cell phones while parents are at work. They learn of him, as well. The area the school is in, is a predominatly white, so children aren't "hand picked" whatsover. The numbers are comprable to their surroundings. In fact, local private schools such as St Mary's & St John's has the same/ less racial ethnicit. I have 3 children here & have had over 10 teachers. I can't say anough about the level of education, spiritual growth & am daily impressed by the teacher's care and level of education. Middle school is wonderful! Much is expected, the technology is wonderful (esp without state funding) and things like worship night & being responsible for your fellow peers are priceless. The discovery center to help your child who is behind (not to the brink of failing as public schools) has been utilized for 2 of my kids. They are receiving ONE on ONE education if the typical classroom setting isn't working. Also, my kindergarder is reading! LOVE!

This school is very modern and the technology is great, but diversity is a huge problem. This school is one of the few schools in session on Martin Luther King's birthday and some of the teachers have told the students that it is better to attend on that day to "LEARN" about Mr. King. This would be acceptable if they showed the students movies about civil rights or had specials programs on that day, but that is not the case. There are several cliques at the junior high level, which makes students who are not in any cliques feel isolated. I expected this form of behavior in a public school setting, but not at a Christian school. I can only pray that the administration at this school will implement activities and programs that address TRUE diversity and discourage students at the junior high level from forming cliques and isolating students, then and only then will I increase their rating.

This school is like a breath of fresh air! I am so glad we started sending our child here. It is such a huge improvement over the local public schools in Crown Point. The teachers and administrators we have dealt with are honest and actually try to help parents and students. It's nice to have the support you need and the respect you deserve. Mutual respect was absent in the public schools, but is very present here at Crown Point Christian! It's so much easier to help your child when you are all on the same page and not trying to play the 'mind games' that they play in public schools because they know you are an educated parent and they want to avoid you. It makes a huge difference to be around loving and supportive Christians as positive role models for your child. My child's self-esteem has soared since he started attending this school! I would highly recommend it. It is worth the money to get a quality Christian education and preparation for the future without having to worry about your child's safety or that people are just simply trying to get through their day and get to summer like they are in public schools. What a great choice to attend this school!

I am an eighth-grader at CPCS and to be honest... this school has given me everything. Great teachers, students, and principals are just the start. Without this school, I would be nowhere. It is a great Christian society with the nicest people on the planet. The academic program is flawless; it's not too challenging or too easy. It is the most Christ-centered school out there; an example: they use something called "Love and Logic" which is a program that teaches kids to solve their own problems, not just go home with a piece of paper that requires the signature of a parent/guardian. I love this school.

...Continued from the previous comment , He's a happy boy with great grades now that we're in a different school I kinda regretted sending our son to CPCS .Our son loves going to school , but , If he were to go to this school still , i am afraid he would ended up hating school , just because all the negative remarks that he got over there . I guess it's a bad thing if your child is really smart and learns fast , because once he gets bored , the teachers / principal would say your child being very distractive , needs medication , and yet they wouldn't do anything to move forward , to challenge his bright mind .
