Have 5 kids in the Lake central school system and absolutely love it

The principal never responds to any emails or attends any meeting. She is almost non-existent when it comes to any issues. There is a ton of bullying happening, students are getting beaten on school property with little to nothing being done. There are recordings of teachers complaining about the bullying and little to nothing is being done. Kids are so scared and staff only brush them off and say ignore the other kids. There are videos where the kids are being beaten until they are bleeding and black out but the school does very little to help.Staff members bring guns to school and are allowed back at school to prevent a protest. The head Principal is never around to help. The principle will be in the lunch room as students are being bullied but doesn't help. There is never any accountability on the staffs part. They are the adults who are suppose to keep our kids safe. They blame the students and never take any responsibility for their lack safety and guidance.

Reviewer: Current student (as of 2022)The Bad:Overall, the school, like many schools across the United States causes students to suffer with early start times. I do not need to go into great detail regarding the adverse effects on the mental development of students that start school at 7:15. I feel if they just switched the start time two hours later, many issues the school faces could be mitigated. As a student, there are definitely issues with fights at the school. Perhaps I am just overexposed to them due to some of the Instagram pages that pop up displaying these school fights for the whole world to see. There also seems to be issues regarding drugs at the school, however, I personally have not seen much usage for narcotics other than nicotine (through vaping).Many counselors do not give good career advice nor do some of them allow students to choose the classes they wish for the following year.This is single-handedly the biggest problem with the school:Some teachers, including AP course teachers, ARE NOT ENTHUSIASTIC OR EVEN ATTEMPTING TO TEACH STUDENTS. There are classes I attend where everyone will be on their phone the whole time the teacher is explaining something. The teacher notices too, but does not care. A second component is instructors "teaching" by simply reading off of a smartboard. One of my AP teachers does this, just repeating what is already on the smartboard and rarely building upon that stated knowledge. By the time she reads it, I (and likely many of my peers too) have read the board twice-over. It's truly pathetic. But this review is not simply meant to be a rant over the bad things at this school. Let us move forward to some of the good.The Good: Many nice, hard-working, and trustworthy teachers: This is where this school truly makes me feel like I am at home. I have teachers that will let me rant about both school and other problems, hearing me out and giving me advice in return. It is truly amazing. These great teachers, when you do bad on a test or quiz, will tirelessly offer their help and guidance. I know teachers that stay at school until 7:00 PM, helping students with their mathematics. Many teachers are not afraid to talk about their life story and what they did to get to where they are. They speak humbly, even though they are awesome human beings. The principals and vice principals are not too bad either. Although they can be out-of-touch sometimes, they really do care.Ty 4 readin

All three of my kids loved Lake Central. They never felt that it was too big or overwhelming. They liked the vast majority of their teachers and felt that they were well prepared for college classes.

Drugs are everywhere and being dealt here and afterschool. Fights in the hallways daily. Teachers are well below par, except for a few good ones. And the administration doesnt deal well with anything. Did I mention the excessive DRUGS????!!!

Excellent. I feel Lake Central prepared and educated both of my sons for their future - college.
