My son is mild and there were severe behavioral episodes around him. He had to sit in the hallway due to others behaviors in class. It was more mod- severe, not mild- mod. Much information was held from parents about incidences in the school. They sugar coat what you are told. One aide lied multiple times about my son. I backed up the truth with the teacher. Principal refused to correct the false behaviors reported saying it doesn't matter. It did when I pulled my son out and the next school looked at behaviors reported. Had a meeting with principal and SLP to get a correction letter drafted. The SLP was laughing at me on the phone. I called Santa Rosa and left msg with Mr Bailey who never responded or did anything. My son had nobody to socialize with at school due to him being mild. Focus is on behavior, not academics.

My son began attending Anova in Concord in 2021. From the beginning, I have been impressed with the entire team. At IEP meetings they speak about my son from a strength-based perspective. The principal, primary teacher (my son is a third-grader) and all the specialists are kind and have taken the time to get to my son as an individual. Outside of IEP meetings the teacher and specialists have all contacted me to get parent input and tailor my son's educational experience to meet his needs. When my son struggles at school, he is coached through difficult behaviors with epiphany and respect. The team sends home a daily detailed log that keeps me well informed about his academic, social and behavioral progress. Anova has been a godsend for my son and our family.

Anova has been life changing for my son and family. It's an incredible school that uses evidence-based practices for Autism to provide wraparound support for students. Anova is amazing at meeting children where they are at, making accommodations for what they need, communicating with parents, using a child's strengths, teaching coping and communication skills, and helping children feel positively about themselves.
