I don't how it was in the past or if it's the same principle it has today, but my son is on the spectrum and is high functioning. He transferred from another school that wasn't helping him at all and in 2 weeks going to Sun Terrace I saw a huge shift and such a major progression. He went from not being able to read and now reads and writes plus is doing multiplication. He attended 4th to 5th grade and wish he could continue going. Love his teacher and principle is so involved. They listened to all my concerns and teacher replies super fast if I have any questions.

This school should get less then 1 stars. One of my close friends used to go here and it is horrible. One day my friend fell off the slide and broke their arm but the teachers walked it off like it was nothing they told him to get off and that they think the dramatic. He was seriously injured with a broken arm but the teachers did nothing the next day when he came back with the cast of the mom of him made sure to that the teachers would see that he had the cast. The teacher never helped him pick up his bad or anything, even though his better arm was broken. 0/5 stars. I’ve never seen a school with this bad of teachers, service, and attitude.

Is this the same school, that my nephew goes too? My nephew hasnt learned anything and he is going into second grade. He gets bullied all the time and the principal and his teacher didnt care; didnt do anything. Well, this year when he starts back up again, I will make sure that the teacher is teaching him something or I will take over. I have no problems taking over a class. After last year, that teacher needs to retire. She left most of her kids behind and only taught a few selected children to work with. Wasn't fair for the other children. What ashame.

I have been working at Sun a Terrace for a long time. It is a great school with a staff dedicated to doing their best for students. The rating this site shows for our Standardized testing is based on a test that is several years old. The CA STAR test is no longer given as we are now focusing on Common Core Standards. For the past two years we have been having ongoing training on Common Core lessons/strategies and our students are making good progress toward meeting these standards. While Standardized tests have a purpose, focusing on the daily progress of the students, understanding the whole child, and focusing on their individual needs, we are able to help encourage our students to beome lifelong learners! I am proud to be a member of this staff under the leadership of Mrs. Martin-Meyer.

The school my child attends, Is close to our home of residence. There is a unity of the teachers and relationship. A open door policy to voice concerns and complaints. I love the updates I recieve.

My daughter attends kindergarten at Sun Terrace Elementary School and I am very pleased with how much my daughter has improved since her first day in that school. She is learning a lot from her teacher.

Sun Terrace is a wonderful school. The families here are dedicated, the students are motivated, and the staff is incredible. The entire staff takes an active role in the education of our students. Mrs. Martin-Meyer is a truly effective leader who is making our school vision a reality. I feel very lucky to be a part of a community that is so invested in the education and well-being of our students.

I love Sun Terrace! Our family experience has been great. I really like, respect, and am grateful for Ms Martin-Meyer. She is a great fit for the school, very open and approachable to the parents as well as to the parents (unlike the previous principal). Leadership is key! Kindergarten rocked with Mrs Constantineau, and now first grade is going swimmingly with Mrs Steele. I love that we can walk to school. The whole experience is and has been great.

Last year was our first year at this school as a kindergartner. I had originally put in for a intradistrict transfer because of the reviews of this school. I am now glad that our request was denied. I loved how our first year went and am excited to see what first grade brings us. The teachers and staff are always very helpful and willing to help when needed.

I am very pleased with our principal Ms. Martin Meyer. She has been a blessing to Sun Terrace. She has made a lot of changes at Sun Terrace and everyone seems happy with it. I personally feel that the only area that needs help is parent involvement. Our parents need to make time and get involve. Our teachers do a lot for our kids as parents we need to do our part too.

This school year, Sun Terrace got a new principal who is amazing. As far as I can see, most people, including staff and parents are not only relieved, but excited to see a new, positive leader who listens and supports the teachers, students, and parents in our community. The new principal is a welcome addition to the Sun Terrace Family.

I wrote the 5-star review dated 12/7/09. I did not want to change that review since my son attended the school for 6 years and we felt the overall experience was great (with the exception of his final year). The first 5 years were under a different principal, Mrs. Smith, who cared about each student and family. My opinion of the school has since changed. With Ms. Jacobs, the new principal, the school has gone downhill. She is rude to children and parents alike. I withdrew my daughter from the school last year (and would have withdrawn my son had he not graduated), as I did not want her to experience such a dictatorship, where the principal truly does not care about what is best for the children. I was a committed parent and treated terribly. My children were picked on by the principal as well. As this is still our neighborhood school, I have the best of hopes for Sun Terrace, but the first step in improving the atmosphere and student/parent experience is to remove the current principal.

I used to love this school...I really miss Mrs. Smith. My 21 yr old sister, my 17 yr old brother, my 14 yr old daughter, and my 13 yr old brother all went through this school and now my 7 yr old son goes there..and up until 2 years ago when the new principal came along things were good. But from then on it went down hill. She makes rules up as she goes along and does not advise them to anyone. It is what pertains to her at that moment and at that time. She makes rude comments to the parents, kids and even the teachers...but they are too scarred to speak up! She does not inform anyone of the changes and expects it to be OK but it is NOT! For instance we lost our keys 1 morning and my son was late I explained it to them (in the office) and i was told it was NOT EXCUSED because that is her school policy. And then because the tardy was not excused he got study hall for being tardy. Something is not right here! I have had no issues with the bulling but with the new principal yes I have!!!!

I love this school. I have had 3 older boys who have graduated from there and now I have 2 more there 4 th grade and K, and they love it. I do miss the principal Ms. Smith she was the best. The staff is very friendly. I was reading some of the other comments below. And about the bullies, my children has never had this problem. And the school has mixed races. If it was my child I would confront the parents.

Sun Terrace Elementary School is a safe school where all children are valued. The school has 3 rules: Be safe, be respectful, and be responsible. All adults on campus truly care about children.

this is the worst school hands down. The kids at this school are bullies, and the staff does little to nothing about it. They do have some good teachers, but for the most part, the students run the school. Gang violence is in full effect, which is why they must now wear uniforms. As a parent, I hate that my Daughter has to go here. She is an overflow student, which means she apparently must go to the worst school in the district. My older Son went here for 4 years, and he was beaten up and bullied the entire time because he is bi-racial. I couldn't work with the other parents, as they didn't even show up to resolve the matter. I finally moved out of this horrible area, and now my daughter is forced to go there again.

My child has been going to Sun Terrace for almost 2 yrs now and has had more struggles here than any of her school life. Teachers that i have dealt with are not consistent with notifying parents when there are problems are student is not progressing in class or subject. They wait until the last possible moment to say something. How can parents work with their children if they are not being kept up to speed with the students progress or lack there of. This will be the last year my child attends this school. It's unfortunate for the children the lack of leadership this school exudes.

Very little interest in students with great qualifications, they focus on the bad students... no extracurricular activities, and a lot of disorder
