STAY AWAY FROM THIS HYPOCRITS My family signed our twins JD and Grace, for the cradle program. JD was kicked out of the St Gabriel cradle program the day of the Open House, and 4 days before classes were to start. We registered the kids in this program in February. We brought them to Open House and stayed for about 20 minutes. Everything was fine until my son got bored because there was only one other child there (a girl). The door was wide open, and when he saw kids going to next door class he followed them. In that room, there were 4-5 2 year-olds class playing with a car track.Kate Stephens was in hallway and saw me going to get him. Understandably, he was upset that he couldn’t continue playing and began to cry. Stephens decided the best solution was to close the half door to the 3 year-old room and try to convince JD to find something to do in that room. At this point a wonderful teacher (don’t know her name) picked up JD and was going to take him back to the 2 year-old room, but Stephens wouldn’t allow it. I took JD from the teacher and he continued crying. It’s at this point Stephens gave me an evil eye, and pointed with their thumb to remove JD from the building. I left the building and we went to the playground where JD immediately started playing. After two hours I missed a phone call from Stephens. She left a message to call her that day or next day. Immediately my heart dropped suspecting, after how she behaved with JD, her plan to kick my son out of the program. I was right. She called the next morning at 8:15 telling me that something was wrong with my child. He wouldn’t look her in the eye when he was upset. This women diagnosed my child with some kind of behavioral issues after spending not even 5 minutes with him. However, Kate, in her "professional opinion" has decided JD can't be included this year, but his sister Grace is welcome to come. Not much in this world shocks me anymore, but having our son kicked out of pre-school after one, 20 minute visit is beyond anything I would have ever imagined. For it to happen at a Catholic church is even more astonishing. Not only is it heartbreaking, but it puts an incredible hardship on our family now that we have to find a new pre-school 4 days before the Fall session starts. Its this normal to any parent, christian or member of St Gabriel church?

Horrible school lacks diversity. They do manage kids with any type of disability with compassion. Their resource teacher mistreated my daughter so I pulled her out. They tried to leave her back knowing she has ADHD. They even asked me if I wanted advance her or not and I said yes only to suggest to leave her back. This was against our discussion and principal did nothing to change it even though I have it in writing.

Generally decent level of education, but issues exist around the culture and community, essentially in terms of rampant rankism among the parents which pervades all areas of the school, including and unfortunately, the children. It is essentially a 'pay to play' institution where the children of the parents who donate the most money and give off an aura of power and influence in the local community are given the best teachers, most resources and social support. A sad state of passive bullying which is not in keeping with the religion, or modern times for that matter.

Education is primary goal for going to school! Lagging in math, science, extra curricular and foreign languages. The great teachers are what make this school what it is today. MACS has control of too much and the school cannot make changes it might like to make. They need to get rid of the bad teachers, do more to retain the good ones, change the unwelcoming culture toward parents, involve parents more, and they know who they are... The families who attend are wonderful people! Until they do some self reflecting and the principal, superintendent and MACS make real big changes, this will not be the great school it could be.

A good education in terms of reading and extra-curiculars, lagging in math and science however. Not at all diverse. If your child does not arrive at carpool in a BMW or Mercedes however, they will be left out of more and more cliques the older they get. My son seems to have lots of friends, kids are always shouting out to him, shouting goodbye to him as I pick him up everyday and he has no shortage of stories about fun on the playground. However, he has stopped being invited to his friends birthday parties b/c we are not from the right neighborhood, can't afford to donate or spend big at the annual charitable auction and drive an older, inexpensive car. Very cliquish. Not very Christian in this respect. Very few working moms, most seem to be coming from the club or the spa at carpool.

My daughter has loved going to kindergarten everyday! We have had such a warm welcome from all: parents, teachers, staff at St. Gabriel's! My daughter has been so happy to tell me aBout her day...at her own time of course-for those of you who already have a kindergartner this is no surprise I'm sure! The communication between teachers and parents has been very clear.i have also been impressed to see exactly what my daughter is doing in school everyday. We have received all the information in a very timely matter; in other words not totally bombarded at one time. I feel like my child is extremely happy and safe. St. Gabe's is exactly the kind of environment I was hoping for my daughter. The PTO has also been unbelievable! I look forward to what the future holds in the years ahead!

I am a new parent of a kindergartner at St Gabriels and we love it! I have been overwhelmed at how welcoming everyone has been. The teachers are wonderful in so many ways, I feel like they have my childs best interest in mind! The parents, especially of the older children in the school, have been very welcoming to the new parents and students. They had very open sign-ups for parents to do any type of volunteerring they wanted. We can't imagine being happier anywhere else!

We recently relocated to Charlotte and were nervous about once again changing schools for our children. We were greeted warmly and made to feel a part of the community immediately. We love the teachers and the staff there.

I agree with the parent who was appalled by the behavior of the parents and the children. There is nothing the least bit Christian about the environment, and the parents have no boundries there and run the school. And if you are one of the parents who is constantly there walking the halls, then your children are treated more 'special' than the other children. These parents obviously have nothing better to do, and are looking for friends up at the school and a social outlet. Most of the children are badly behaved, spoiled and completely inconsiderate of others' feelings. Bullying is not addressed properly, and the overall academics are seriously lacking. And if you're looking for a Catholic education for your children, they will not receive one at Saint Gabriel.

My son has been at St. Gabe's since kindergarten and we couldn't be more pleased. The environment is warm and loving and the administration is the best. My child had a learning issue and they spotted it in kindergarten, helped us diagnose it, and developed a game plan with us, his teacher, principal and guidance counselor so he could succeed. I was amazed at how well everyone from the principal to the music teacher know my son. My youngest will be going to kindergarten there next year. They teach the children respect for themselves and others as well as morals and a wonderful education!
