I cannot say enough good things about Rama Road. My 3rd grader had an amazing experience. Rama handles its Title 1 money so well--she had access to lots of opportunities in the community. She had access to the talent development program from day 1,and the 3rd grade team is fantastic. At every school event, the entire school community (kids with disabilities, diverse families) were represented and celebrated. My daughter made tons of growth here, and I see them differentiating instruction for the needs of every student. Again, we love Rama and cannot recommend it enough!

My son has been at Rama for 3 years and has grown tremendously academically and socially. His test scores are really strong and improve every year. Rama educates a broad range of scholars, including children with disabilities and those who come to the school speaking a language other than English - those students have unique challenges and are included in the schools overall test scores. It is amazing to see the growth every year - especially with our most challenged students. I recommend Rama for anyone who values diversity and wants a school with a big heart.

I love rama road- the principal and staff couldn't be better. They have really worked hard to turn this school around. I highly recommend this school.

This schools year has been one of our best school years since my first child started elementary in 2012. Making the choice to enroll my 2 children into Rama Road was the best decision my husband and I could have made. Staff and teacher involvement is ranked a top 10! This is what's important to me and important for my child's education.

I have a now 1st grader, who began at Rama Rd Elem. last year for kindergarten. Since Day 1, it has been obvious that my child's learning and growth, along with all students is top priority. He has excelled and outperformed grade average and has continued to do so, despite the lower EOG testing average for the total student body. The administration, teachers and structure to the curriculum allows for individualized instruction to meet each students needs. The openness and dialogue between faculty has been amazing and I feel that my child is truly cared for while at school everyday.

Great support, helpful with kindergarteners who are transitioning to school for the first time. Good communication systems.

I Love Rama! My family is new here to Charlotte and I have two children who attend Rama. Pre- K and 5th grade and I couldn't ask for a better environment for my children. Everyone is so delightful and helpfull.

I volunteered in a Rama Kindergarten class several hours each week for many months while my own children were still in preschool. What I found was a friendly, caring and highly qualified staff who work together (like a family!) in grade level teams to provide the most efficient and effective education for their students. When we later received a magnet lottery spot, we turned it down and have never ever regretted it.Soon after that, we were richly blessed to have Patti Denny become Principal. She has expertly motivated the staff and students to constantly grow themselves and be their very best. She truly cares about the future of each person in that building and has been a huge asset to Rama. I am especially impressed with how our teachers and Assistants break each class into small focus groups during math and literacy. This teaching model allows students who are behind to group together and spend more time mastering subject material, while fast learner groups are able to move ahead and continue being challenged. The diverse cultural environment at Rama is celebrated and has directly expanded students' understanding of other cultures. With SO many countries represented, International Day (with parade!) is my favorite day to visit and support our great school.

If you are considering schools for your child please take a tour of Rama Road ES. Our daughter is in 2nd grade and we are so glad we decided to make the choice to stay with our neighborhood school, despite getting a coveted magnet spot elsewhere. Rama has excellent staff, strong parental involvement, and growing support within the neighborhood. It offers some amazing opportunities for learning outside of the classroom including a full Science lab, an Innovations lab, partnership with Discovery Education, single gender classes and a single gender STEM club sponsored by Discovery Place, and TD opportunities for 1st and 2nd grade. Hidden in the state reporting numbers is the Student Growth Index which measure’s how well schools grow students over time. Currently Rama has a 6.2/Exceeded Growth (-2.0-2.0 scale) which places it in the 91st percentile for overall student growth. http://www.carolinaschoolhub.com/ 55% of teachers have advanced degrees and they are dedicated to meeting the educational needs of all of the children attending Rama.

SO very proud of our students and staff for EXCEEDING all growth goals for the 2013-14 school year when two neighboring magnet schools did not meet. Our 5th grade students grew their proficiency 30% points in science alone. OUTSTANDING!

This school is awful. Unfortuantely, you do not realize it is that bad until you move to a different school district. My daughter was in Kindergarten at Rama and we moved to Fort Mill in March. My daughter, who was "ahead" of other students at this school, is now "behind". My daughter told me she had to spend most of the day with her head on her table, waiting for other kids to catch up. If you have to live in this area, choose private school, otherwise your child will not be able to compete when they reach college level.

My school is one of the "best kept secrets" in Charlotte. Teachers work together to provide a team approach to learning. Every teacher has a vested interest in every student. Staff work together to individualize learning opportunities for all students. The school has an international feel, with many cultures represented. Diversity is celebrated! In addition, Rama is the first Discovery School in the country. A strong focus on science and technology provides students with a challenging curriculum with a strong 21st Century focus. Century

I am dedicated to my student's growth each and every day. Students here feel safe and our part of the Rama family. Being a Title I school does not mean low-quality staff and education. Being a Title I school means that we receive extra resources from the district to make education here even more meaningful for our students. The diversity of this school allows students to grow into mature, real world individuals who are prepared for life. Rama proud and college bound!

My school is just wonderful. Have you ever walked in somewhere and felt the "family" feel? Walk into our halls at Rama and you will experience this very thing. We have dedicated teachers and staff members that work hard everyday to ensure every student is engaged in his/her learning. Check us out. Take a chance. And definitely take a tour and see for it, yourself.

Being a Title 1 school gives Rama a bad reputation - which I am guilty to say, I believed myself. All it really means is that we have more resources, technology & opportunities than the schools around us! As teachers, we love our students and many students (and parents!) come back to visit previous teachers because of the personal connections that are made throughout the school year. We are a welcoming, caring staff and have an open door policy to the community. Come & see for yourself - we would love to answer questions or have tour our classrooms to see how happy & engaged our students are each day.

I have two children at Rama Rd, one of whom has special needs and I have been so impressed with the teachers and administration over the past 2 years. They ALWAYS go above and beyond and I feel like everyone has my children's best interests at heart. The principal, Mrs. Denny, is very accessible and seems to know every child's name. Becoming a Discovery Education School has also been very exciting and given all of the children at Rama access to some amazing resources. We are Rama proud and college bound!!!!

My daughter is in kindergarten at Rama Road. We have lived in neighborhood across from the school for 10 years and always wanted to support Rama Rd. From the day she started school in August, we have never questioned that decision. She is reading and writing at or above grade level and we couldn't be happier with the quality of teachers and administrators at the school. Yes, the test scores could be better, but there are many layers to that onion. I would recommend that anyone who is interested in the school should visit, talk to the principal, and see firsthand what is happening in the classrooms. You will see that this school is a true hidden treasure whose potential is finally being realized.

This time last year, we felt as though we were on an emotional roller coaster with the decision of where to send our child to school. Do we send our child to Rama or do we move? After visiting a number of schools, observing the classrooms, and hearing from the principals our decision was clear to go to Rama Road. Our child is in Kindergarten and it truly thriving, excelling in reading, and learning every day. I love hearing what he is learning each day. Principal Denny is amazing and has a clear and defined plan to see Rama Road succeed. She has brought in excellent teachers, created a welcoming environment, introduced school uniforms, and brought in new programs such as Discovery Education. We have had a great experience and are thrilled to see our child begin their education on a positive note. RAMA PROUD! Our family encourages you to visit the school and meet with Principal Denny during your decision making.
