We have been at this school for 3 years and could not be more impressed with the lower school education. The kindness and consistency of the lower school is amazing. I love that they emphasize not only academics, but leadership skills and actively teach manners like hand shaking and eye contact in our first grade classroom! Our experience in the early school has been okay. The teachers are great, I personally just feel that the Montessori classroom is too big and students don't get enough individual time. That being said, my children were more than prepared for kindergarten, so who knows!

Charlotte Prep is where my son has attended since the beginning of his school years. He is about to be in 6th grade and could not imagine a better environment for him. The school has amazing support for the individualized student and fosters an amazing environment for my son to be the leader he is! Charlotte Prep has an amazing leadership team with superior faculty and staff. We could not be happier with the education and love he has received at Prep.

I currently have 2 daughters at Charlotte Prep, my oldest has been there for 7 years and we couldn’t be happier. I love the diversity in the school, not only when it comes to students/families but also when it comes to staff/teachers.Besides having a strong curriculum, I love the fact that students are taught how to be respectful and act with integrity since they are very little. Classes are smaller so the teacher/student ratio is great, giving the opportunity to teachers to really be involved in each of the students’ learning progress.

Charlotte Prep provides a nurturing, positive environment, a top notch curriculum and a place where your child is not just a number. Our daughter has thrived at Prep due to the outstanding, dedicated teachers who teach academic lessons plus lessons focused on social skill and leadership development. She has had the opportunity to take excellent classes that align to her interests (including STEM, Technology, Music, Drama, Spanish, and PE), and the school constantly offers new learning options. Prep offers small class sizes and a diverse and truly welcoming community. We toured so many private schools in Charlotte before making our choice, and there really is nothing like Prep. Our daughter loves Prep so much that she literally skips to the front door of school each day.If you are looking for a place where your child can shine, look no further than this school.

Our family loves Charlotte Prep! The teachers and staff are caring and excellent at what they do. My children have learned so much academically as well as socially as there is a strong focus on character building and leadership education as part of the curriculum and everyday life. Most importantly, they genuinely enjoy going to school. The size of the school allows for a strong sense of community. It feels like a family where each child is known, loved, and supported in every way. As an international family, we appreciate the diversity within the school community and have always felt very welcome. I cannot recommend the school enough. We researched and visited many schools in the Charlotte area, and Charlotte Prep stood and continues to stand out as the very best!

I am a former student at this school and had a great experience. I loved my time at Charlotte Prep and I attended from primary to eigth grade. It prepared me extremely well for schooling beyond. I loved my teachers and still enjoy going back to say hi. This school was such a cultivating part of my own growth and experiene and I am so thankful for it.

The teachers truly care about the students. The student teacher ratio is like 8:1. They do know, love and challenge your child. The small community is a nurturing and diverse place. We love Prep and how it encourages each individual child to meet her or his potential. Looking forward to 3 more years.

We started in the Montessori program which offers an individualized approach to teaching and really helped build our daughter's confidence and leadership. The program has kids of different ages in the same classrooms which allows the older kids to help the younger kids and the younger kids to model the older kids. Not only was she encouraged to be self directed and learn at her own pace, but also encouraged to help other kids, which she loved. I think for this reason, kids are incredibly engaged and concentrated. Our daughter improved in so many areas, not only academically (beginning math, reading, geography, Spanish), but in learning how to share, work with others and follow basic classroom rules. During one period of time, she decided to test the limits, as kids often do, and decided not follow the rules, especially about making lines (to use the bathroom or go to the playground). Our teacher was incredibly understanding and worked together with us to set up a reward system that allowed my daughter to make good choices. I was very thankful for the amount of communication with the teacher and school that allowed my daughter to succeed. It was a great example of the partnership between the school and parents. Before Kindergarten, we decided to tour a number of private schools and our local public school to compare. After meeting students from other schools and seeing their facilities, we decided to stay at Prep. We continue to be very happy with that decision for a number of reasons:1. The student to teacher ratio is really low, so they get a lot of individual attention, and the academics are top notch.2. The school only goes to 8th grade, so the middle school kids are not influenced by high schoolers and they practice being leaders, especially in 7th and 8th grade becoming very mature for their age.3. The school is a small, very friendly and welcoming community with many families from international backgrounds.4. My daughter is being supported in trying new challenges, like team sports at the school, drama productions, learning an instrument, etc. We are very happy that she is expanding her horizons as a person and building her character and it's not ALL about getting good test results. Although she does that too.I do have to say I am grateful for our school and community.

Charlotte Prep has been an amazing place for my daughter as well as my family. No matter what your interests are - sports, arts, academics - there is something for everyone at this school. My oldest daughter graduated in 2017 and was beyond prepared for High School. I would recommend this school for anyone looking for a place to feel like they belong and are a part of a caring community.

Great school that combines academic excellence with a strong focus on preparing kids for life challenges. The K-8 format gives kids a nurturing environment where they can explore and learn in different areas.

I love being a part of Prep. We are a family and strive to work together. As in any family (or school for that matter), there are people who are happy and those that are not. You will never find 100% of a school population happy with everything, and there are always going to be families that are unhappy. You'll see that any independent or public school. Prep is worth checking out to see if it fits what you are looking for in a school.

Excellent experience so far, especially after comparing with other schools my kids have been in. Surprised by some of the hate-filled reviews - clearly a very unhappy revengeful soul!

Awful is a subtle word! Please keep your kids away from this school run by incompetent, unethical and not fit for the job administrators. Below comments that you see as excellent are given by a parent who is also working in the school so not a real source for you to rely on! I agree completely with the review given as pathetic... 1 below . There is no oversight on Heads of the school! They are answerable to no one... Head of the middle school doesn't even know how to communicate with the Kids or Parents. KEEP YOUR KIDS SAFE AND STAY AWAY FROM THE TOXIC SCHOOL!

Pathetic... I would not suggest this school to even my enemy.

We absolutely love the early school Montessori program and my kid has shown vast improvements in academics. Both faculty and staff have been tremendously helpful and attentive. We love the small school setting and the attention my child gets as a result.

We have been at Charlotte Prep almost 11 years now with our children. We have experienced the wonderful Montessori Early School, the Lower School - which sets a great foundation for inquiry-based learning, and the Middle School where we have seen our child thrive and grow in her self-confidence and ability to advocate for herself. The teachers here take the time to get to know each child on a personal level and are able to serve as guides, counselors, sounding boards in addition to just being a teacher. We are looking forward to the high-school placement process as we approach 8th grade!

Average. For the amount of tuition one would think their child should excel. My son was unable to even identify his own name when it was written. The administrative staff are rude and several racial remarks were made. My child had a nice teacher whom he adored but she sis not encourage him to work on things if he refused. My overall experience at Charlotte Prep was cold. My child left with the same academic tools as when he entered.
