Excellent. I’ve volunteered at the school and have seen the good and bad that comes with teaching. These are highly dedicated folks.

Maplewood Elementary School has consistently blown away my elementary school experience in every way. It is a kind, nurturing school environment with incredible teachers and staff. Our school counselor is the rock of our school. She visits each classroom weekly and takes care of the emotional needs of every student. Our art teacher, PE teacher, and librarian and hands down the most incredible educators who bring creative hands-on learning and ignite our children's imagination consistently. The school not only provides an incredible dual language program, arts enrichment, incredible after school activities, but it's our social emotional learning that makes the real difference. Our school was one of the first SEL schools in the district, and it shows! Half of our kids come from economically disadvantaged homes and our school is incredibly diverse, but there are very very few behavioral issues. We live being citizens of the world, kind, and caring human beings who nurture one another and cherish our differences. Maplewood is the school that cares and you can feel that you are in a very special place just entering the hallways. We will miss Maplewood so much when our kids are on to middle school.

Maplewood is exactly the type of school I want my child to be a part of. Not only do my kids, who are part of the dual language program, receive an excellent education, but they are also in a supportive and diverse community. I feel very lucky to be within walking distance of this school.

We have been neighbors of Maplewood for 10 years and this year our son is attending Kindergarten. I am so impressed by the educators and the administrators at Maplewood. My son is getting an amazing education----his reading skills have excelled exponentially since he started 4 months ago, and his understanding and kindness towards other (This is a No Place for Hate School) has been nurtured. LOVE Maplewood!!

This is my son's second year at Maplewood, and my daughter can't wait to start Kindergarten next year! We have had such a marvelous experience there, and found the families, teachers, and administration tight-knit and supportive. We absolutely love attending our neighborhood school and feel connected to our community in an entirely different way!

Sweet neighborhood school that has a strong emphasis on the whole child: social/emotional, academics and physical health. Not only are the 'regular' teachers amazing, but the specials (music, PE, art) are great as are the amazing resource teachers who spend extra time with the kids who really need it. Fun after school clubs include: chess, bike club, math pentathlon, Spanish, ukulele, robotics and more. Maplewood is a true community, embracing each kid like family.

My son is enrolled in the PreK program here. It is both his and my first experience in this department, as he is my oldest and he was never in any daycare programs. The transistion from home to school was seamless and we both fit right in! The teachers are amazing and we instantly felt comfortable. My son started off with a pretty solid foundation for preK, he knew his letters and his colors and shapes, but he has constantly improved in other areas like writing. Maplewood is a sweet little school and it's become our home away from home. :)

My son has had a great first year here. All of his teachers, including his homeroom, P.E., Art and Music teachers have been wonderful, engaged and active. The school has a sweet and safe feel with a lot of fun activities to engage families during and after school.
