My daughter has been in the school for 6 years and I myself are an alumni of St John. The school is nothing like it was when I attended it. Their standards have gone down hill and they cater to the less fortunate students instead of the school as a whole. They also lack steady structure, one minute they enforce polices and the next they do not. I've heard it from many parents that the homework is also very overwhelming, my child is up to 10pm every night completing her work.

SJB is filled with passionate and dedicated faculty & staff. Technology is currently being integrated into the curriculum of every grade, especially in middle school, to prepare our students to succeed in every 21st century classroom. SJB is blessed to have highly-involved families and local business support is what keeps us going strong.

My two boys have been at St John since preschool. The top quality education is well worth the money.

This is a great school! The academics challenge the students and the atmosphere is kind and caring. The teachers show genuine concern over the student's learning.

My daughter is currently in 1st grade at St. John the Baptist. She has been in attendance since PreK-3. The teachers here are phenominal! They take a personal interest in ensuring each child is interested in learning and receives the support required for them to succeed.

St. John the Baptist has a solid academic program and great learning environment. The teachers are fantastic and proactive in their teaching methods. I recommend SJB for parents who are looking for a solid academic program and safe learning environment.

Our school is top rated! We are very pleased with the educational experience we have received. The programs and extra-curricular opportunities are perfect for the students. We look forward to many more years at Saint John!

Great school. My daughter is learning a lot in Pre K 4. She loves her teacher and the students. She is reading and counts to 100.

As a parent of a current student and one who has already graduated, I have been very pleased with the education my children have received at SJB. The Principal has worked very hard to engage energetic, dynamic instructors that have had a positive impact upon my current student. My current student is treated with Christian respect and is challenged to reach his intellectual potential. He has not only passed, but excelled, while taking all of the ISTEP and NWEA tests. Thank you St. John the Baptist Catholic School!

Stay away from this school if you value education. Out of 16 Catholic schools in NWI, St. John ranks 14th in ISTEP scoring. For $3,000 per year, you'd expect to get more than below State Public School average results. Last year the 8th graders were using the wrong Algebra book, requiring them to retake the same class as Freshmen - sounds like something you should accept as a parent (and pay through the nose as well?). It's a money grab, with inexperienced teachers coming and going, inept leadership from the Principal, and no real parish funding to improve the falling quality of education - yet tuition goes up $200 per year like clockwork! If you want a subpar education for your child now, and don't mind them falling behind their peers at South Lake County public schools, or are planning on sending them to an equally below average high school (see Whiting, Noll or Clark) and are willing for them to suffer greatly at a quality college - St John is the place for you! The numbers don't lie!

Excellent educational institution that has been at the top for decades. In addition to academics, this school boasts a fantastic band program and has one of the best sports programs in the region. Some of the statistics listed here are askew from the actual demographic but none the less you need to visit the school to appreciate its true qualities. - Coach Paul

Our school festival was a BIG success. Not only did we make more money than the year before, it showed how St. John's family can pull together and unite. Our kids are happy at St. John the Baptist.

The recent festival has shown the changes for the worse this school has made. It no longer feels like a family there. I will be looking to go somewhere else as many other parents are already doing.

Fantastic school, the best investment we can possibly make in our childs future. Great Catholic eductional foundation that puts children on course to be professional, productive adults.

I've been observing the new principal. I've noticed good leadership qualities and lots of experience put to good use. This principal really knows what she's doing and has what it takes to run a good school. I'm glad my child has the opportunity to see and experience the changes and likes them.

In a world of uncertainty St. John is a place I can send my children to and know they are safe. And the education is outstanding.
