Love the community and its subtle and slow welcoming of diversity however whiting middle school as an educational facility falls very short in educating and supporting diverse families and diverse learners. The Principal is busier than A list celebrities, don’t hold your breath for a meeting or call back with your concerns. They fail to truly understand, write up, and fulfill proper iep goals for special needs students. They do not provide an inclusive environment for these learners I would say they do the best they can with who they have but they should have more and do far better. I literally had very delayed communication on my child’s progress as I had to either keep checking online or wait for mail notices that the child is failing as opposed to proper channels reaching out to me in genuine concern for my child’s education. Many of the teachers are literally the absolute worst. They are still a bit shook I think by the diversifying of the schools students and it shows very much. As a former veteran board member, educator, and parent to a special needs student, and an advocate for diverse learners this school falls far below the standard for educating special students as well as advanced ones and should strongly consider partnering with satellite locations that better suit some of their student population demographics. I felt they did absolutely nothing to get to truly know my child and assess my child’s needs for best performance. I would not recommend. They did have a very few decent staff members but overall the goal of public education is to actually earn one and they did nothing to ensure this happened for my child. I am thankful to the heavens that we relocated. I couldn’t imagine depending on this district to further educate my children and send them out into the real world.

Not the best if you didn’t grow up here. Whiting is very close minded and do not welcome newcomers. The school is worse than military school with a ridiculous discipline mentality. Children with learning disabilities do not stand a chance to thrive here. They pick favorites and if you’re new to town, your child will suffer. Everyone in this small town know each other and grew up together so they know who to give a hard time to. If your child isn’t in a sport then you’re out of the click.

They don't work well with children with disabilities. They don't return phone calls. They have clicks and bully the kids. They don't have a good 504 plan or they don't follow it. Children with disabilities have no chance. How sad that the people that work here are not following the law on teaching the children with disabilities.

Whiting Middle School is by far the best schhol. I am moving in a couple months, but I hate to transfer my son. The area, teacher, and kids are great. I am honestly reconsidering the move.
