We feel lucky to have found Mountain Phoenix! Our girls love going to school and come home happy. As a community school, family engagement is highly encouraged, which makes the school a place where we all know each other and look out for each other's kids. The teachers truly love and care for the children, getting to know their strengths and areas of growth both in and outside the classroom.

I can't begin to say enough about this school. We have been there since our first child was in ECE and has now graduated. Our second child is in 7th grade now, and I can truly say she has gotten the most superb education. The teachers at Mountain Phoenix hold childhood in reverence, ad thus, each lesson, each drawing, each story is thoughtfully prepared and presented- teaching not only to our children's minds, but also to their hearts. Their creativity is bolstered daily, and they are taught to think outside of the box. A love of learning is truly fostered. Their is warmth that exudes from the school and community; it is such a treasure. We are incredibly grateful for the education our children have had and the lifelong friendships and knowledge they have been gifted!

We have sent both of our kiddos here and the school is such a magical place. It's a place that is inclusive and supportive through any issues. The children feel supported and celebrated for who they are. Kids not only learn, but have the ability to play and learn though other forms of exploration. The campus is beautiful and the community of parents is incredible. I'd highly recommend.

My child attended MPCS for over 10 years. I cannot say enough good things about the Pre-k through 5th grade curriculum and teachers.The middle school, however, is terrible. Children are not up to speed enough to transfer to a regular public high school. The teachers will make decisions without informing or consulting the parents.Do not allow your child to attend the MPCS middle school.

Great school that focuses and learning for the whole person. Comprehension instead of memorization. My kids have been attending for 8 years and I cannot say enough about the staff and teachers. It’s also been a supporting community for me as well.

We were looking for a public Waldorf school for our children and MPCS is an amazing community. Specifically, we love that the school limits technology use, that arts are integrated into the curriculum, that the educational focus is on the whole child (not just teaching to the test), that young children get plenty of active, outdoor free-play, and that students stay with the same class and same teacher for several years.

The school is great in theory however the abundance of affluent families greatly dictates the course the school follows. Families of color and families from lower socioeconomic backgrounds are mistreated and ostracized. Incidents that should be addressed are swept under the rug. Nepotism runs wild.

Having children involved in MPCS for many years, I can see both the positive and negative sides. The early childhood program is magical and they retain much of their staff year to year and have happy children. The turnover in teachers in the grades however has been huge in the past 4-5 years. The good: A gentle start to traditional learning, more time outside, art, handwork instruction, music, and learning cursive. The bad: Lack of discipline, low educational challenge, overworked and under-supported teaching staff, high number of administration, lack of effective special education, and 30 kids in most of the grades classes.

As a student alum of Mountain Phoenix, I did not appreciate the school until now. Since graduating high school, I realize that the critical thinking that we were being taught in middle school has been crucial for my current successes. Revisiting MPCS (my younger brother still attends), I appreciate how the festivals and events creates such a strong community and appreciation school wide.

As a community school, we all hold the responsibility of being engaged, protecting our children's childhood, slowing down the pace and holding our values close and strong. After 7 years, I still consider this school as part of my family. My oldest has graduated high school after a successful middle school career at MPCS and my youngest continues to thrive.

This school is a true gem! Lovely campus and beautiful classrooms (especially ece). I’ve had several friends leave their school to be part of the mountain phoenix community. Lots of outside time and free play for the younger kids. We LOVE this school and are so happy to be there!

We have been a family here for over 5 years and have built an amazing community that we recognize as our close friends. Our children have blossomed under the guidance of the passionate, devoted, and incredibly knowledgable staff and faculty. We are truly blessed!

We have really enjoyed our time at Mountain Phoenix. The sense of community can be felt each day on campus. When issues arise the staff listen to parent concerns and find solutions.This is not the most diverse school, racially or fiscally. However, there is a very active Diversity and Inclusivity committee made up of staff and parents trying to ensue change. This school IS very inclusive to all genders. Staff go out of their way to ensure a child's preferred name and pronouns are on all records, even on the district level.

From day one we continuously jumped through hoops. We were told how to dress our kids (we know there were no character clothing so didn't mind that) but then we were told no picture shirts, those shoes aren't good enough, your daughter needs this type of backpack, etc etc. Fees are high and then you are asked for $ all the time. At parent nights they charge for childcare. Many networking events are held during the work day. There is a lack of diversity. This school caters toward privileged white people that either have $ or a parent that stays home. Even not offering before care before 7:30 limits a lot of working class people from being able to send there children there. This is not a public schools and charter schools are taking away resources from local neighborhood schools.

My daughter briefly attended second grade at MPCS. In a two month period, the following issues occurred: (1) I was contacted 3 times to be told that my child was absent when she was IN THE CLASSROOM; (2) the teacher spelled 5 words wrong on the blackboard during a parent meeting; (3) the special education director and 504 coordinator failed to meet with me after several requests; (4) there were multiple bullies in the classroom with little to no discipline action taken; (5) there is no one at either the administrative or parent level willing to walk you through the procedures of the school.

The experience at this school was life changing. It teaches the students life long lessons, music, art, creativity, community and wholeness. The classroom I had with my peers was so speacial. Now all of us are like a family even though we all graduated. If you have the chance to send your childern here, please do. The teachers are extraordinary and kind. Waldorf is a beautiful way of education.
