Very good school with great teachers and administrators

My child attended Immanuel for a couple years and it has some good qualities depending on your perspective, namely a very, very strong commitment to Missouri Synod-type Lutheranism and infusing all parts of education with Christianity as well as a small 'family-type' atmosphere and small classes. However, it did not work well for my child who is very asynchronous in his learning and knowledge and who was discouraged from making progress in his area of strength due to little flexibility of the math curriculum and the teachers/administration. Specials subjects (music, art, computers) are also very basic and bullying in certain grades was unacknowledged even when it occurred in front of teachers. This school is probably a very good fit for those who privilege a Christian education and whose children are high achieving, highly motivated and people pleasing. For children with very high ability, 2E issues, or LDs or families who are seeking a more flexible administration or concerned about bullying, you may want to look elsewhere.
