The Middle School in Roxbury did a miracle to my son. He learned good study habits for life.I moved to Roxbury looking for good schools, and after 2 years in that school I am sure I made the correct decision.

The teachers make the student experience great., by creating an atmosphere in which the student wants to go an extra mile to achieve success.

EMS for us was a wonderful experience. The teachers are kind, caring and involved. After school assistance and VIPs (free period to get help from teachers) were never a problem. Students are treated as young adults. Both of our children had happy school years there. Only complaint my kids had was that they needed more time to travel between classes, it was only 5 minutes.

This school is perhaps the best of all the schools in our district. I have consistently found the teachers and administration to be outstanding--and this is over the course of the past five years. I only wish more parents could be involved and then they would see for themselves how great the school is.

I am a parent of a future EMS student. I am also a substitute teacher, and have worked here in various capacities. I am incredibly impressed by the staff. The Prin. and Ast. Prin. are terrific! The two of them are approachable, understanding, and never turn their backs on a student OR a parent. If you want to be involved in your child's education, you have a wonderful team of educators to work with at this school. Yes, there are a couple of teachers that should pack it in,(but where isn't that the case?), but in general, I am very much looking forward to my son attending 7th & 8th grades here (I wish it also had 9th!). Every single department has teachers for students that excel, and students that need special services...and a guidance dept. that will help along the way. Any problems that exist are not unique to EMS, but exist in all of the schools in Roxbury, and fault really falls in the laps of the board. They do not come from a place of "putting the child first". And the fault of the board? THAT falls in the laps of the residents, the one's who vote, (and especially those that don't) to elect these people.

Its a cool school. The teachers are nice and you learn a lot. The music program is really big, too. We have so many after school activities that are fun.
