All 3 of my children went through Nixon School and we could not have been more pleased! All the teachers knew each student, they were well prepared for the next school level, when they needed any special attention or guidance they received it and they were always very responsive to parents who were actively involved in their child's education. Providing a successful educational experience must always be a "team" effort by Teachers, Parents & Community and that's what you have with Nixon School. I would highly recommend this school and cannot see why anyone would give it a less than stellar review!

I've had children of mine in Nixon Elementary school since 2006 and I must say that I absolutely love this school. The teachers are great and Mrs. Lynch, the principal is amazing. She is very active in everything that goes on in the school and even attends our PTA family fun nights with her own children. The school is very clean, the classes are not over crowded and they are very up to date technology wise. As far as parent involvement, yes it would be great if more parents would get involved, but there are the same few parents who donate their time to help make the children's years at Nixon's ones to remember. I've been lucky enough to have had the time to be one of them. They have a very active PTA which does so much for the children. It has been a pleasure having my kids at Nixon and being able to be part of such a great school community.

As far as supervision goes, my daughter is always coming home from school saying that another child hit her or tried to choke her during recess. There is a severe lack of supervision at this school. I never received a phone call from the school about these incidents either. When I called the school, they said they asked the other student what happened and they said they didn't do anything. So, I asked what are the consequences for such actions and they responded with well, they did not admit to anything so there is nothing further to do with the incident. Horrifying to say the least, I have to worry about my daughters safety on a daily occurrence when she is at school because the so-called staff that is supposed to be supervising is too busy talking to each other when they should be watching the kids outside. On another note, as far as teaching goes, I do not think the teachers and staff go very far out to help the kids that are somewhat behind. their answer to that is to keep them back in their present grade. What happened to this "no child left behind". yeah ok. check into it, do your research before sending child in

Very unfortunate experience, coming from a great district, I had a lot to compare to and Nixon just did not meet the standards. My child came home asking what some words meant during the first week (she heard from other children). Foul words that had never been heard in our household. The teacher was less than welcoming and had a VERY unpleasant attitude. The principal, however, was very attentive and professional. Overall, we did not feel that this was a proper enviornment and our children no longer attend this school.
