i had my child at this school for 4 years and i have never been so appalled. there is so much bullying and violence, the teachers are downright awful to most students, and the punishments given for behavior is beyond inconsistent. if your child struggles with mental health issues, you will not find help here. the guidance counselor is extremely unqualified. most kids failed math this year and the school did absolutely nothing to help them. there is a large amount of kids being held back, didnt walk at graduation, or are in summer school. these are words straight from my daughters mouth, a student at byram from 5-8 grade. if you intend for your child to have a good middle school experience and come out with any academic skills, find a better option for schooling. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE

This was our first year in the school and we could not be happier. Our child was challenged, had some bumps in the road, but the teachers were there to communicate with us and get him back on track. Tremendous school!

District Administration is extremely lacking and uncaring. Pulled both my students out after last school year due to a school system that focuses predominantly on state testing instead of Actual academics. On top of it, whenever I went to the BOE on several occasions for questions, they dodged me on phone calls (hanging up on several occasions after keeping me waiting) and the Superintendent Heinz even told me he "wasn't sure what was going on there" in the Intermediate school. Who says that and is actually fine with that answer??? It's the blind leading the blind in Byram, and although they're all 'nice', have no control over the teachers and severely lack in the supervision of their school system.

If you have a special needs kid and live in Byram, get out or make other arrangements before your kid hits the 5th grade. Period.

My children attended this school and are now very successful in college. I attribute their success to the amazing education they had at Byram Intermediate School. Their classes were challenging and were taught in a way that was inspiring and engaging.

To the person who wrote the review dated July 2, 2013.... You state that you volunteer for events, this is not directed at you personal, but WHAT EVENTS are you speaking of. One of my biggest complaints is that there is no involvement, no events, functions, dances (6-8 only) and no other activities. The PTA is bare bones and other than the book sale fundraiser, there in not much going on

We have a child in this school. We are pretty involved, volunteering and helping out with events. Like any school in the past few years, they have endured budget cuts which have caused some hard decisions. However, I believe the school is pretty good and the teachers we have experienced thus far are certainly in it for the kids. We like the schools.

Over the last 2 yrs we have been at this school I am completely disgusted this school that has takes no responsiblity of error but will gladly show you why the problem resonates with someone else. Teachers get paid to teach not assign blame. It is so upsetting to see the decimate placed on students self esteem due to teachers and staff at the byram intermediate school. We are moving to avoid having to remain in this school district!

I regret having my children at this school. The principal is not one who I find objective and I find that the school tolerates unacceptable behavior and makes excuses for its students. I have never been disappointed in a school, but this school is the absolute worst!!!
