Terrible lack of communication and terrible at holding kids accountable for their actions. The same kids repeatedly harass and hurt kids.

I love this school. I would recommend it to anyone.

Well below what children deserve. Be wary of anything that sounds too good to be true. Very smooth talking administrators but most is far from the day to day truth. Building administration will not address direct parent concerns, instead refuses to share information and consistently denies wrongdoing. Overall philosophy seems to be 'if you dont like it, go to another school'.

My kids came home crying everyday because of the constant testing and threats by their Math and LA teachers telling them if they do not do well now on the weekly practice tests, they'll Fail later on in the actual state tests. Both my kids are on the spectrum and the math and reading basic skills teachers spent more time online shopping and giving my students worksheets than actually teaching the them skills they need to know. My students would say this and when I went in to observe the teachers one morning, I saw exactly what they were talking about. Worksheets on a projector are still worksheets, and leaving your laptop in the back of the classroom with your Amazon Cart up is completely unprofessional. When I confronted the teacher about this, she told me 'it was left up by her daughter' who is also a student there. My kids were neglected when they needed help and now I have to pay for them to go to a private school on top of my Byram/Stanhope taxes. Byram is a choice school, so I chose to take my kids out of it last year. Beautiful looking school, special education and basic skills departments sadly are inept. Overall, thumbs way down!

The teachers and staff are excellent. Everyone at this school has gone out of their way with valuable information and help.

Previous reviews are really outdated. Under the new leadership, the school environment has changed a lot. The first grade and Kindergarten programs do not provide a rigorous instruction unlike similar programs in other districts. A great bulk of instruction time is spent on mindless activities involving constant cutting and gluing without a real substance (for Math, LA, Projects, etc.). Mr. Eward Abato does not oversee the work of many of his teachers and/or refuses to admit that there are issues with a lack of communication, classroom management, and some teachers' abilities to differentiate instruction for advanced students. However, the school has a several programs to assist students with disabilities. Still, there are many parents who are not satisfied with the education their children are receiving at the school. As a result, they are considering other options.

We have had two children go through this school (one still in), one needed some extra help due to a slight disability. We have found the school to be helpful, and the teachers we have had have been a very positive experience in our childrens' life. We like it here.
