Elementary should be the easiest school time in a child's educational life. Not so much at this school. To be clear this school feels more like a prison.

I got custody of 2 of my nieces last year, and enrolled them in Stone Mountain Elem, and from day one. They have loved it, and excelled. Everyone we have encountered from Mr. Davidson (the principal) to the office staff, and the teachers have been great. They also have an after school program that is great too. I will admit that the school is a little on the older side. But weather it a new building, or an old building. It's whats on the inside that matters the most, and from what myself, and my nieces have experienced has been nothing but great. They actually look forward to going to school everyday

I have 3 children that attend school here. All in 2nd grade and under. The school is underfunded like many schools is low income communities. But I have always made the best way it. I volunteer as much as possible and try to stay abreast of new things. The teachers do a good job, but parental involvement is lacking. This can create a sluggish, apathetic environment. But in the last year I have seen improvements and I am sticking with this school because they have always been supportive of the kids.

This is by far the worse school I have ever stepped foot in, in my entire life. I think the state of Georgia should be ashamed to call this a school. More like a prison for children. Take my advice. If you are a parent whom cares about your child's well being. DO NOT move in this district. The staff are very unprofessional. The school is as old as the underground railroad. And I really felt offended when I tried to withdraw my son and they basically said. This is his jail cell until you relocate. Please what ever you do. Visit this school. Before you enroll your child. I don't know what these other parents see when they enter this school. But I know this is not a place for my son or any ones kid to be, if you want them to make something of themselves....... Now if you just want them out of your hair for a few hours......... I say go for it.

This will be the second year that my kindergartener, first and 4th grader attend this school. The teachers push the kids to do their best and to want the best education for themselves. While some children lack the drive and motivation from home and everything else they go through in life, there are some staff that I came across, that if made aware of or noticed that a student in need of help, did everything that they could even with the steps they were required to follow. Dr. Hairston (principle) is awsome. Mrs. Simmons, Mrs. Bussey, Mr. Tillman, Mrs. Biagas, just to name few do an excellent job teaching these children even with the lack of parental and finacial backing.

My daughter is a first year kindergartner. I am literally breaking my lease to move into another district for next semester. The staff is rude!!!! They put my daughter on a school bus(wrong one at that) and she us a car rider and had the nerve to be mad at me. The classrooms are old and dark. My daughter complained of "creepy bugs" in the class and bathrooms. The parents come dressed in pajamas and cigarette smoke. If u can go somewhere else please do. Can't wait to take me daughter out of this school. Oh yeah My 5 yr old can read and at this school they are just beginning to teach them colors!
