My son has been here since kindergarten. He has continually had issues with bullying. No one seems to genuinely care. His shoes were torn up and nothing happened to the children who did it. This school doesn’t have any extra time for kids. There is no extracurricular learning activities. There is only one day of recess a week. Reading is not promoted not encouraged other than the book-it program.

My son has been here since kindergarten with the exception of 1st and 2nd grade, and he now in 5 to about to graduate. I feel he has had a good education thus far and cultivated great friends. He has been on principal's list all the way. One input I can give is parents need to volunteer a lot more and help the teachers. I wish the school will assign a parent in each class to be the liaison between teacher and parents to lessen the burdened of the teacher. Teachers are stretched out and can do a better job if they got support. Education starts at home and implementing the right attitude towards learning will make any school greater than what it is. Don't just expect the school to do that. Good luck for all youth wishing you the best.

The principal is incompetent and doesn't have time for the students. she lets the teachers do whatever they want. I complained about a kindergarten teacher only given some of the kids snacks and leaving other kids out and having them crying and she just swept it under the rug. I asked that my child be removed from that class and she refused. Now I have to find a new school for my son because I'm scared that teacher is going to take out the fact that I can play now on my son she has the potential to be evil because what kind of kindergarten teacher needs to be told that you don't leave kindergarten is out and I don't want to go to this school because I think I'm going to punch you in the mouth so to avoid all of that don't have your kids go to the school.

This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a school, administrators, and teachers. If I could rate it lower than terrible I would. Where do I start...going to open house was pointless...they were all sitting in the cafeteria, no list of teachers, no tour of the school, and no after-school program info. A joke, should have noticed it was a red flag. First week the kids would come home telling us of their new school and the horror of it. They did not have a working kitchen therefore had to hand out lunchables, only to run out of them, giving the 5th graders only a sandwich and some rotten celery. I emailed the principle about this and was told it was only temporary and would end after the first week. Three weeks later it was fixed. The bullying was probably what I heard about the most from the children, the consistent overbearing bullying done by students and the teachers who are so desensitized to the bullying and look the other way. My children would come home crying because they got called names and physically abused by other students. My numerous calls to the principle went unanswered until I showed up to the school. Only to be told they will take care of it. It continued to happen and calls unanswered. I even had one teacher pull me aside and tell me to take the children out of the school immediately because it was quickly declining and this is a hell hole for children. The last straw was when my child was ambushed in the bathroom and punched repeatedly in the stomach, she told the PE teacher only to be ignored by him, until she went to her teacher who then sent her to the nurse. I went and picked up both my children and the principle was "busy". Please be aware that this school is ran horribly and that the administrators have no clue what they are doing. This school is unsafe.

This is the worst elementary school. Our first year here and I regret moving in this area because of this school. No open house and no schedule for students until after the first day. So kids come to school clueless as to where they need to go as if they aren't already nervous the first day. What a joke! No air conditioning in any classrooms! I can't believe this is even acceptable. The staff up front checks no ones I.D. and lets anyone walk around the school. Might I add they are the rudest people I have ever met. I listened to them complain about their jobs unwillingly for about 5 minutes. It takes an hour to pick your child up because everything is so unorganized. Teachers ignore your emails! I'm fed up with this school. Next step for me is the news station. All these reviewers need to tell the truth. This school is a nightmare!

This school is easily the best in Dekalb or at least the best elementary one. I've been here since the 2nd grade and have been in love since. Though Im in eight grade now im always looking forward to coming back for say a very well put together play or musical- a creative event that always involves the community, or Just a smile on everyones face. Im ALWAYS nearly brought to tears from the memories. I dont know what it is. everyone is such a good and kind soul, though the best of the staff are almost all gone and I dont know fully yet what they have been replaced by the school has definitely not lost its charm Just yet. I would kill to do 5th grade over again. The kids have funny and charming and mostly respectful I mean they are kids. They have a morning t.v show and a number of extracurricular activities. Just, this place radiates warmth and friendliness once you walk through the front door, there's beautiful artwork on every hallways and the sounds of excited and inspired children. The school is really diverse (for Dekalb county anyway) and you get a good insight on others' cultures and ways of life. I love the idea of this place and will one day hope to send my kids here.

I love Hambrick. My kids have been going there since kindergarten. They are currently attending. The teachers there are excellent. The school is well organized. I don't have a problem out of them.

I was a student at Hambrick Ekementary from kindergarten to 5th grade. I believe they gave me the tools i needed to be successful not only in middle school but in life. This school provides its students with an excellent acedemic experience, and a caring set of teachers. They give you confidence, and they have a special awards program at the end of the year where every student has the chance to feel a little special. Hambrick Elementary has a wonderful reading initiative, and they give away 10 bikes to the top male and female readers in each grade. I have no complaints, and I believe that if you have elementary school age children, this is the best place to go.
