It had the most ridiculous rules. You’re not allowed to bring your computers home, no phones at lunch over a silly Tiktok sound, etc. It’d be great if those rules actually did anything but no. The lunches are stale, there were bug infestation problems, incredibly rude students, underpaid teachers, dirty bathrooms and classrooms, vaping and stealing problems. More diverse clubs would be great. My 7th grade teachers were amazing but that’s about it. There was not much sense of a school community.

First I was a substitute at this school & I didn’t have a positive experience with the teachers & staff. They were very rude, short, & clicky. Then my daughter attended here as a student & her bus always dropped them off late. Her first hour teacher was very rude & publicly shaming her for this issue. Due to the negativity here we began looking at private schools. One of the private schools requested my daughters transcripts. The paper in huge bold letters said DO NOT DISENROLL. The next day she goes to school & walks into her first hour & the teacher yells at her saying “What are you doing here!? you are no longer a student here! Give me your chromebook & get out of my classroom!” She then went to the office & the office said well we got this paper saying your looking into private schools so we disenrolled you. Since your here go back to class. She asked if she could call me & they told her no! She went to her locker & grabbed her cell & called me from the bathroom. I went to the school & asked what was going on & I was told we made it clear we didn’t want her going there by applying for other schools so they made it easy for us by just unenrolling her.

My kids and I have had an excellent experience at this school.

Our child who loves school, did not have a good 7th grade experience here. Leadership lacks effective supervision of students, which leads to problems, and teachers struggle to connect with students. If your child is not an athlete, there are not many opportunities to connect with others. A sense of "community" is missing. A let-down coming from Wilson's Creek.

It is far too strict and too many rules. It is a bad place to be

My child had come from the alternative programs and we are a low income family I have found the teachers to be very proactive with my child on his grades however these are teenagers and they need to learn how to take some responsibility and the teachers do try to teach this as well. My child really enjoys Cherokee and for myself I also attended Cherokee when I was younger and I still feel that not everyone can be happy with everything that goes on at a school but Cherokee is doing better than a lot of the middle schools. I am proud that my children will go to this school and not with the best of clothes and they will still fit in. All schools have issues that's life.

This school is highly recommended by nearly everyone in town, but it isn't what it seems. If your child is an athlete, you're good. If you can volunteer regularly and can be "popular" with the right parents yourself, your child will be good. If you can keep your child in the latest fashions, it will help. They say they have zero tolerance on bullying, but they do not. Speaking from personal experience, they do tolerate it if the kids belong to the "right" crowd.
