My child experienced a very positive transition to HHS from a private school setting. The teachers are welcoming, caring, and supportive - inclusive of students with different abilities. There are multiple opportunities for students to be involved in varied course pathways, clubs, and athletics. The school’s media classes and career technology programs are impressive. HHS has recently made positive strides toward re-building a strong school culture and developing partnerships with the local community. Overall, we have been pleasantly surprised by our child’s experiences at HHS. Proud to be a Ram!

2 of my children have attended HHS. High school is a hard time and can be terrible or great. I think the staff and teachers overall have supported my children and any issues we have ever had were promptly dealt with by administration. Both children were (and are for the one still in school )active in sports and clubs and participate in activities the school holds. As a minority, it’s important for me to point out that they do feel supported by their peers and the staff and changes that have been made have been from student feedback.

Very disappointed in the school, I don’t feel my son has learned anything while there. Except the wrong attitude, and behavior. It’s very over crowded and there is is always some sort of drama with fights going on. It reminds me of a correctional facility, instead of a H.s.

At Hillcrest we are one big family there's not a lot of bullying and everyone is there for each other.

My son is going into 11th grade this coming fall (2019-2019). He said he likes Hillcrest High. His freshman year he had a bit of a time adjusting but he was coming from a homeschool setting. He's doing great now.Bottom line is, every child/student is different therefore, each child/student will have a different experience. There will ALWAYS be "good/bad teachers & students" in ALL schools.I suggest going to each school yourselves, talk with staff, take a tour & decide for yourselves which school would ne the better fit for your child/family.We love Hillcrest High. Go Rams

I had an overall mediocre experience. However, the school itself is terribly unequal in its treatment of students. Teachers are overburdened across the board and those in CP (not honors) classes are more prone to slip between the cracks even though the teachers are (mostly) caring. The facilities are old and the attitudes of many faculty are unapologetically racist and sexist. Hillcrest is well known in the area as an underperforming, poor, and “rough” school. But, like I said, the honors students are generally separated from a lot of the bad parts.

Hillcrest through all the drama is an amazing school. Kids who want to learn can always get the help they need I am a senior this year and all my teachers offer before school tutoring and they don't leave till 5 pm when you get out at 3:45 they want to help and see you succeed. We don't have any issues with lock downs except for maybe the drills we do and when drug dogs go through its because it's manditory for all schools to be searched every year just in case. But they will almost never find anything to arrest a kid for. All in all Hillcrest is amazing come and enjoy.

This school is by far this worst high school I have ever seen. I will surely be taking my children out of the school. If you are considering this school unless its your last and only option steer clear from Hillcrest High School. A child's education is not their number one priority.

I went here all four years, it is true that if you are not involved in the right programs you will not have help when you need it. I caught on to that quick and became members in a lot of the programs. Teachers do not even try to control the classrooms because no one listens. You do not have as big of a problem with that if you are taking AP classes. There were many fights, gang violence and drug issues. We would be on lockdown for hours waiting for the drug dogs to make there run through the classrooms. I hear how amazing the school used to be years ago but that is not the case anymore. Graduating was the best thing that has ever happened to me and I am so thankful that I do not have to go there anymore.

They do not care about their students unless you are a teacher's kid, student council or member of the football team. I know from personal experience with one child on Student Council for 4 years and had a good experience. 2nd child comes through and a totally different experience. Administration is too caught up in "district policy" than to look at the student as a person. As a result they are diminishing slowly my childs next step to go to college. My child said to me one day. "This school must not want me to learn" because he was refused access to see his teacher before school for extra help. This had been prearranged with the parent.

I went to Hillcrest for one year and never felt safe there once. Fights broke out everyday, students smoked and participated in sexual activitys and others threatened to bring guns and knifes. The school isn't safe, the teachers do not care and you are a fool to send your kid there. Whatever kind of disciplinary system they have seems to not exist. How can you learn with 30 people in a class room with you're sitting on the floor and the teacher is constantly yelling at other students? There's no money for books or desks, I went the entire semester without my history book and no one cared. Do you really want to go to school here?
