My oldest is a rising eighth grader and she’s had a great experience. The teachers she’s had have all been PHENOMENAL (Whitley, Sloane, Poole, VanR, Tollison, Kindleman, Parker, King, Klotz, Samples) and the staff is always welcoming and inviting. I’ve never had any issue arise that wasn’t immediately responded to or addressed. I absolutely feel my voice is heard as a parent, but most importantly my child’s voice is heard as a student. There are so many people within the building that are constantly encouraging the students to not only succeed but also to exceed their own self expectations. The arts programs are fantastic, with teachers who are passionate about what they’re teaching (not to mention Bryson is one of only TWO middle schools in the county that offers Musical Theater and annual musical productions)! Administrators and counselors are always present in the halls, and the students seem to be extremely comfortable approaching any of them that they see. There are plenty of activities, sports, fundraisers and PTSA events to take part in too!

This school is probably the WORST school I have ever been to in Greenville County. The teachers are SO disrespectful and don't care about students' mental health at all. The bugs at this school are over the top and the school claims to have an exterminator, yet the bugs are still present. My biggest pet peeve was when teachers would accuse you of something that you did not do, and when you would try to tell your side of the story you would be labeled as disrespectful and ignorant. I refuse to continue to let this school get worse and worse, someone needs to come to this school and fix it now. I'm usually not one to complain, I usually sit back and just watch what happens to others. The bullying at this school is astronomical, and the principals never do anything about it. Kids at this school do not care what comes out of their mouth and don't care about anyone but themselves. The new bathroom policies are crazy, taking a cone to the bathroom is a safety hazard for everyone. I feel like this school needs a whole investigation on their actions and how they choose to discipline kids. I hope this school ends up closing down one day, this is ridiculous. I wish anyone else who comes here the best of luck. you won't survive

Uhh well I have teachers I like Ms.klotz, Mr.Stevens, Mrs.Cole, and Mr.Mallory. They’re awesome teachers love them. Classrooms tend to have drama either no drama or a LOT of drama. SOME students trash the classroom because they’re just rude and insensitive i honestly hate kids who do that. But I like school because I can get out of the house more and so I don’t spend too much time on my phone. I wouldn’t say I would recommend but it’s in the middle only if you get Mr.Stevens as a teacher you’ll love it.

I am a student in 8th grade at Bryson middle. this school is nothing but trouble in all of my years going to school i have never experienced anything of this magnitude of chaos and bullying. I have experienced countless times of fights and see people everyday in the hall skipping and being rude to all. I myself have been in the middle of drama before and the school does nothing to prevent fights or deescalate situations. All they do is sit back and watch as it goes down then gives the student maybe 3 days of OSS. In my opinion the bad out ways the good in this school. if you ever think of going to this school dont look to the admin to help you in any way they dont care one bit about anything u have to say. They take days to respond to a simple email and then reply with one word responses. As i am writing this review i am hearing someone being bullied right now. One of the only good things at this school is Ms. Lewis my counselor she is an amazing person strives to help improve your lives. Some goo teachers here are Jennifer Poole, Alicia Sloan,Dana KIndlemann,Bailey Tollison,Sherry Helms and Amy King. Watch out here its not safe in any way possible so keep an eye out for trouble.

My husband and I are both in the military and this is the 4th school district our children have been students in. They've attended public school in TX, NJ, and PA and have NEVER experienced racial discrimination but since we've lived here my son has been physically and verbally assaulted by African-American students. We are applying for changes in school assignment for both our children. I've spoken with other parents whose children have been the victims of bullying and I'm sorry to report that although the academics seem on par with the other schools my children have attended, the complete lack of discipline in this school far outweighs any of the learning my children are doing.

These views are ALL wrong. I don't know what your kids have been telling you, but I went to Bryson for 3 years and it didn't come close to what y'all are making it out to be. Sure there were fights-give me a middle school that hasn't had one!-but there are NO gangs. The teachers DO care about the success of there students-even the ones who hate YOU. Another thing: the completely seperate the child and parent. The parent could act like a DEVIL to the teachers and the teachers would still love the student and want to see them succeed. And really? You don't like the school because of the SECRETARIES? OK-AY. Give the school a bad review because of-GASP-the secretary. This school isn't a Heaven-I'm not saying that-but it isn't what your children have been telling you. If I had to say anything negative: they put 7th & 8th grade luch too late. 6th graders get to eat at 10:45-11:30 and 7th grade has to wait until 5th period (11:53-12:53) and 8th graders eat 6th period (12:45-1:35). But that's it. You're making it seem like it's a TERRIBLE school that sells drugs and has gangs and it's not. These teachers are pretty serious when you throw a PENCIL across the room. Sincerly, Student

This school is absolutely terrible. The staff are often unhelpful, the teachers don't listen, and seem to be unhappy where they are, and the dress code can be very stressful for teachers and students alike. If I could, this school would get 0/5 stars.

I have been very impressed with Bryson and felt it deserved a more recent review. My daughter just finished 6th grade there and is looking forward to her 7th grade year. We do have a new prinicpal starting this year, but it seems the previous principal did a great job weeding out many of the behavioral issues that seemed to have plagued the school before he came. The school is very clean and bright, the teachers are enthusiastic and very engaging with their students. They have done a great job with the physical layout of the school to minimize the interaction between grades. The dress code is reasonable and there are numerous activities for kids to participate in. My daughter discovered archery there. They also provide reward days throughout the year like "Chilling on the Green" and dress-down days. They seem to really understand this age group. Only once did I have to visit the front office and agree the lady there isn't as warm and friendly as she could be, but that's hardly a statement on the school itself.

Bryson is a great school. I feel safe in sending my child to the school. He has done well and has been an A/B student while participating in extra-curricular activities and still being active in Boy Scouts and church. He has scored Exemplary on his PASS. This is due, in part, to his teachers and their strive to help their students be successful. I am completely happy with my son attending this school. He would normally be attending Hillcrest Middle, but we petitioned for him to attend Bryson Middle.

my son is homeschooled and wanted to try public school but I was very skeptical about letting him go to Bryson Middle because of all the parents I have talked to everyone and I mean everyone told me dont do it. Horrible school. Well I decided to tour it with my son and make our own decision. Boy were they right. The counselor has an attitude problem and it seems so does the office personnel. I didnt know the difference between the middle school students attitude and the faculty. I wonder if thats where the kids get their attitude from. Needless to say he will NOT be going and will go to private school if he wants.
