Nothing but good experiences at this school for our child.

This is a great school from the administration all the way throughout the rest of the staff including the teachers. My child is thriving here and looks forward to going to school. I would definitely recommend the school for any student.

I would recommend this school because excellence is the motto and students are appropriately challenged. The leadership drives the tone for the school and the teachers and staff strive to ensure the environment remains top notch. Most of all you see happy kids who are thriving.

Plain Elementary is an excellent school, teachers care for their students and help them strive, the staff is wonderful and the experiences are always positive. Their excellent report score supports my feedback. Very proud to be part of this Plain Family!

This school is TOP NOTCH. And one of the most highly requested schools for special permission for a reason. An impressive number of the teachers have been at plain for the majority of their teaching careers and there is very little turnover for staff. Mrs. Mihalic knows how to effectively and compassionately lead a school. My child has flourished and we are proud to call Plain home!

This school is very well managed and the teachers are great. They do not let the kids slack and they are very helpful.

The teachers and other staff really care about the students. They listen to them anytime they have a problem and try finding a solution to them, if there is one. I have loved this school since my daughter started going there.

I have two children at this school and we spent two half years (half of 2 grades) at this school. My experience was one of poor organization and unprofessionalism. I limit my children 's sugar intake (like most parents, I believe), but despite my alerting the teachers would constantly give my children candy as a reward for good behavior and good grades (which is often for my kids). Anytime that there was a need to change transportation plans, my children would be "lost" in the confusion and I would have to "find" them; that is very frustrating, not to mention frightening. Most of my experiences with the school resulted in rude, unprofessional interactions. I can honestly state that I have not had any bullying issues which is a plus, and the guidance department is exemplary. All in all, this school would be average at best. It depends on what you expect out of your children's educational facility. I look for educational partners, not to be treated as if I'm my children's babysitter.

A friend told me about this site so I decided to take a look for myself. After reading a couple of ridiculously negative posts, I felt compelled to post myself. Plain is an OUTSTANDING school - check the test scores and school report card! The culture at the school is professional, compassionate, and proactive. It starts at the top with Mrs. Mihalic and is also reflected in the faculty, office staff, and support staff. When you walk into the school you immediately feel 'welcome' and know you are in a first class educational institution. It is truly a "family" there! To the parent who posted the negative comment about the 'first liners' at the school, did you ever consider that you should be thankful that you have school administration and staff out and about each morning to ensure the safety of all children and a trouble free drop off for parents? How many other schools do you see this happen at? Maybe the serious faces you saw of these front liners are of professionals who are focused on the safety and security of our children/parents each AM. Oh, and Mr Streetman (the new asst principal) is awesome! We think he is very friendly and a tremendous asset to the school!

We have been at Plain Elementary School for 2 years. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this wonderful school community. I can sincerely say these past 2 year have been amazing for my two sons. Their teachers have set high expectations for them. They have nurtured and stretched my boys to be their best academically and to be good citizens. The administration is always willing to listen and respond to the needs of the students and community. This year, Plain implemented a national program called WatchDOGS (Dads of Great Students) where fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures volunteer to serve at least one day a year in a variety of school activities. The DOGS program is led by Plain's new male Assistant Principal who, like the mission of the DOGS program, is providing a positive male role model to Plain students. My family is very happy at Plain and I highly recommend this school.

My kids went to Plain Elementary last year.We really liked it.We were new to the area and everyone there made us feel really welcome. The only reason they aren't there this year is because we had to move to another part of Greenville.I only posted on here because I was looking at the reviews for all the local schools, and I just could not keep quiet my thoughts on Plain.Great school.Nice peopleand loving to my kids, they learned a lot,and were excited about school. Thanks for everything Plain!

Plain Elementary is a great little treasure we found a few years ago when we moved to Simpsonville. The administrators have all been very friendly and willing to help with questions and concerns we have had. One of our children has a learning disability and the teachers have done an excellent job of handling our son,and accomodating his needs and all the while never making him feel left out or different. The building ,inside and out is always clean, and I for one really appreciate that!I take special care that our home is a clean and sanitary place to raise our children and I expect nothing less of where they are for 8 hours a day.The grounds used to be a little less in the area of "curb appeal" but, in the last two years they seem to have really worked on getting better. From the custodial staff, cafeteria ladies, office staff, teachers and administrators ,I really can't say anything negative.I will be very sad when my kids have to leave,I am proud to say they got such a great foundation to their first school experience.

The front-liners (people you come into contact with upon arrival) are not very friendly and don't seem to be very happy at this school. There is one gentlemen, who appears to be a crossing guard helper or some sort, who we have NEVER seen smile EVER. Kind of creepy, at best. Also, compared to the last years' sweetheart of an assistant principal, this year's new assistant principal seems awfully lacking in "people skills" since principals deal with "people/parents" every day. The instructors genuinely seem to love teaching and are above average for our region of South Carolina. Unfortunately, you have a few "sour" apples. We like last year's Plain much better than this year's and 2 stars is the best we can give for an overall experience with this school.

Second grade has a teacher that is a bad apple, but the other teachers have been great.

Compared to the administration at Greenbriar and other elementary schools throughout the country (my job requires travel periodically), we were appalled at their arrogance. Many of the teachers are great, then some...not so much. From the principal down to the office staff, you assume they are faking their pained smiles so I could not recommend this school. Highly overrated in every category and this will be our last year at the school. Not Happy.

Plain Elementary could be better. My little daughter was bullied by students last year and suffered a teacher that supported the bullies rather than encouraging decent behavior. Plain doesn't tolerate social diversity very well. Excellence is more than academic, and Plain does not live up to it's claim, unless one fits a certain social category.
