The worst elementary school in the area. We have changed over to Sebastopol schools, and the extra five minutes to drive is a gift. The children were reading books based on some agenda, and not based on what would give children a love of reading. Teachers let the children know that they aren't happy with their pay. One teacher put the American flag on the floor at a board meeting this year, in front of the children. It may have once been a great district, but it has gone way down. I am not surprised by what I have read about the middle school, because we took a tour. The classrooms were packed, and the children were not paying attention to the teachers. My childs' friend said that children use cell phones in class to play games, and there is a HUGE bullying problem. 65% of children are from out of the district. Save yourself a TON of stress and choose a great school district in Sebastopol. Middle schools have 24 students vs. 35 students per class.

Our child was at top of his classes all the way through. Once we moved to another state, he tested in the 30th percentile for reading and 60th for math. By the time your child goes to middle school, they will be behind by about 1 year. From what we know from friends, the middle school in this district is much worse. The leadership is terrible. The teachers say out loud that they are "quietly quitting." They are.

My son had a wonderful experience at Oak Grove. Oak Grove is dedicated to 21st Century learning, and children have an abundance of opportunity to participate in P.E., art, and music along with receiving a solid academic foundation. They also have a very strong social/emotional program and are dedicated to making sure their students grow into good people -- not just good students. I wish my kid could stay at Oak Grove forever!

My son attended Kindergarten through mid-fith grade. Looking back on our experience I wish that we left OG sooner. When Mr. "Y" was principal the school was amazing. Even "magical". As the new principal came on board the school has had a gradual decline of moral. My son was treated inappropriate in many incidents. Bullying was never truly addressed, a parent of a student was allowed to intimidate students after school on campus. His teacher took a photo of his messy desk (not sure). A shaming tatic ? Fourth grade teacher created such a chaotic classroom that she didn't realize her students were bullying my son. When I brought it to the principal and her attention they told me that it never happened. I found towards the end of the year that my son had not been attending his hour a day with his RSP teacher, and his modifications were not acted on, which he had an Iep for. When questioning his teacher she "texted" me her explanation. His end of the year report card Was low and Iep was not in the consideration. His teacher told me that kids just need to "work around" their learning disabilities". By the time we left OG my son's self esteem was pretty fragile. I am writing this review because parents really need to be aware what can go on at OG. I also am very happy to report that my son is thriving at his new school. We have been there since January and he is happy, confident, has been included socially. His happiness is a reflection on his grades. He is making great grades and he is very excited to learn. I am so happy to see my boy in a much better place . I just wish I hadn't put up with OG substandard learning environment.

Oak Grove School has been a wonderful environment for both of my children to grow in for the past ten years. Sadly this is our last year there as both of my children have completed K-5 there. The warm and proficient teachers have done a wonderful job in teaching a very full curriculum. I feel that both of my children have received a very well rounded and balanced education there and have graduated from Oak Grove not only as good student but as decent human beings. We have remained in this area primarily due to this school and community.

Oak Grove School, and District is very special education unfriendly. Not an appropriate school if your son or daughter has a learning disability. Especially unfriendly to those with Reading and or Math disabilities.
