Its almost comical to read one of the previous posts from a former staff member about the high turnover and the promised benefits that did not happen. hmmmmm. sounds like someone was asked to a do a job and agreed to a pay then wanted more after they realized how hard the work was...just like every other front line position in almost any industry. i've seen sooo many employees look over the fence and say hey "I can make a lot more money and not have boys yelling at me or cussing me out" and leave only to switch jobs 2 or 3 more times before they're back living with family finding odds jobs here and there. Wake up folks! If it was easy, everyone would be doing it...right?! get a grip and realize that these kids are here because there are very few options for them...parents are incarcerated or homeless or still abusive and the public school maybe has one special resources assistant per class helping the "special" kid in class in between facebook posts and texting their other college drop out friends. what greenacres needs to do is expand so they can accept more kids and get them the genuine care they so desperately need!!!!

It s almost comical reading one of the previous posts about employee morale from a former staff member. Hmmmmm. Sounds like someone was asked to do a job and agreed to a pay then realized how hard the work was and wanted more. similar to every other employee front line or not in almost every industry. Did we not become the doctor or lawyer? Get a grip folks! If it was easy everyone would be doing it right?!! I ve seen so many staff members and co-workers say hey, I can make a lot more money and not get yelled at or cussed at by rude little boys only to find themselves switching jobs 2 or 3 more times the next year before moving back home with family doing odd jobs. What options do these kids have? Their parents are incarcerated, homeless or still very abusive. Homework for some of the kids in our county is just that working at home cultivating drugs, prostitution, stealing, etc! These kids could be in the public school system and maybe get assigned a special resources assistant that watch them in between facebook posts. What Greenacres needs to do is to expand so they can take in more students and provide the genuine care these kids so desperately need!

As a dedicated staff member for some time I can tell you this following advice: 1.Check morale of line staff. Recently, Greenacres has stripped their staff of many promised benefits. The result is a very unhappy group of people who are in charge of taking care of your children. I believe strongly in the staff hired at Greenacres, but what ultimately happens is high turnover from people leaving an being unhappy at their job. When you have a large number of young men attached to their staff and them leaving- it delays progress. I wish the best for every young man I encounter but promise you that they- of any of us- are the first to notice a problem in the system. Their hyper-sensitivity and awareness leads them to know somethings amiss. When making a decision of where your child goes to school or to live- ask the benefits for the employee, the pay and ask to speak to an employee right away. If the morale for employees is low, how can they convey high morale for the children?

My child was really struggling in the public school system. He had behavioral issues, was a little delayed and was getting bullied. He had been to several other non-public schools and only Greenacres was able to work with him independently to where he is showing progress and actually learning something. I know every private school or nps has its issues, but I also know how difficult my son is so it is refreshing to see a team of individuals and staff members have not only the patience, but the understanding to deal with such a massive variety of developmental issues. Greenacres is not for every boy or for every parent, but I would not hesitate to recommend them to others who struggle with their child's future. It's definitely worth it to check them out. There is normally a waiting list which is very understandable. Keep up the real work Greenacres!

My Son was in this school/ care home. I wouldn't recommend it. It was the better location out of other residential group homes...I regret ever placing my child in greenacre homes!!!! Do your homework... Speak w/ random parents/ students etc... Some of the other students would beg to come home w/ me every weekend I picked up my child.it was heart wrenching!!

Very impressed! Having worked and been around special needs children for over 25 years, I ve had the opportunity to visit and work for several non-profit special education schools and group homes throughout California and Greenacre Homes is by far one of the best around. The staff is not only highly educated and very professional, but shows tremendous support and passion for helping those in need. On my many visits to Greenacre Homes, I ve had the pleasure of observing dramatic changes in certain kids, from being closed off and non-trusting to being more out-going full of confidence.....a great site to see in kids that had been brought up in sometimes very abusive environments. Keep up the great work, Greenacres Homes!

Let s face it, having a child with a disability is not easy on anyone. It s hard enough to deal with normal kid s issues, but when you add a learning disability, a genetic disorder or some other unfortunate circumstance, your life s stress level is raised exponentially. If your needs include either a group home setting and/or special education, I highly recommend you check out Greenacre Homes. Not only do they offer both progressive and traditional therapies, but they are just loving people that will give you a comfort level that your rarely get in the sea of what to do s in your search for help. I m confidant you ll not only be impressed by the school, staff and grounds, but moved by their true care for your child. It s great to know such places still exist in this day and age......traditional values!
