Due to Army PCSs, my kids started school in Vernon Parish (including Rospine) then attended schools in GA, IN, WA and returned to Rosepine for the 2024-25 school year. Had we not moved, my son, a junior would be taking French III, AP Calc, AP Hist, AP Psych, etc. Sadly, these courses are not offered here. However, if they were available, they'd probably have low participation. It sucks, but probably can't be helped. It's a very small school. There is a chemistry teacher [2024-25] who in real life assigned a mole themed sewing project worth a CHEMISTRY test grade and she grades legit tests on a curve that is in no way mathematically sound. I'm not expecting him to learn very much chemistry this year. There are also a few teachers and a resource officer who I wish were focused more on educating than spreading their religious and political views. Having previously served in leadership roles and as a Military Science Instructor at Indiana University, I would never use my position of authority and influence to shape the religious or political views of my subordinates or students to better fit my own. That would be immoral. They shouldn't be doing it to minors. Not okay. All that being said, I think this is a pretty good school for the vast majority of its students. If your kids must go to school in Louisiana, Rosepine is hands down where you want them to go.

This school is perfect from k-12. A perfect nightmare. One of the worst schools I have ever encountered for dealing with Autistic children, they simply don't know what they are doing and do not care to do it. They have made clear Autism isn't welcome here. I am an autism advocate and I can tell you take your kids elsewhere. Bullying and drug use is rampant at this school where "family name" can save you no matter what occurs, for the most part students run the school and can get away with most anything. Sad for the minority that want to learn.

My family has been here since 2008 and we have raised 2 kids in the Rosepine school system since they both were Kindergarteners and it is a family atmosphere here, everybody is so nice and sweet and treat you like you’re apart of their family.

Rosepine is a small school my children enrolled in for four years. Some teacher are amazing yet more teachers that only care about their paycheck rather than the students. I do feel the need to share my story so other parents are not caught in the situation I am in. My oldest son has just finished 8th grade and is entering the 9th. At the end of the year he had to turn all of his textbooks in to the library which he did. Parents are required to pick up their child's report card from the school after it is ready during the summer. When I arrived there I was told I owed $71.00 for a textbook that my son supposedly had not turned in and a $1.00 in late fees from the library for books that had been turned in late during the school year. I wanted to make sure that the book wasn't at my house or had been forgotten about. When I talked to my son he remembered specifically turning in this book because the librarian had told him that he was going to have to pay a fee for a ripped page. After waiting over a week for the school to call me back about the book, since they were supposed to be checking on their end, I called myself. The librarian went to check about the book that she was supposed to have checked on a week ago, she found the book "laying on a table." I have a difficult time believing my son turned in all his textbooks to the right place but chose to leave one on a random table which then went unnoticed for a month. That was frustrating enough but then I was informed that I owed $5.00 for ripped pages. Okay. I figured at this point I needed to see this myself.I went back up to the school and asked to see the book myself. They brought me to the library and the librarian pulled the book out to show me. There was ONE ripped page that I was told had to be fixed with tape. She had me go to the principal at this point who told me that a special tape was needed to fixed this ripped page. I gave up the fight at this point and paid the $5.00 for the special tape but I sure feel liked I had to bend over and take it for a ridiculous made up reason. Not to even mention the $1.00 in late fees was a total for $0.05 a day for late books that my son tried to turn in on time but was unable to because the librarian was never there! This is just a heads up to the parents to ask the school to give your children receipts for turning in their textbooks at the end of the year.

I'm very displease with Rosepine. I moved my children here in hopes of a better education & being accepted with their disabilities. My daughter twice tried to give Rosepine a chance. They humiliated her, pushed her to have breakdowns. She ran away from having panic and anxiety attacks. She has Autism( Asperger's) and sensory problems that impact her daily living. Everyday the school staff reacted to her in a manner to escalade her sensory issues she became so distressed she ran from school. Not once did the officer stop her nor did anyone do an intervention. My daughter easily could have been killed or hurt. I picked my daughter up twice on the side of the road after she made a distressing call to her step father and I. I luckily got to my child who was crying in state of panic on the side of the road. I called the school long before they attempted to contact me. This is an outrage. Due to the safety of my child, and the emotional damage done by the school we pulled her out the same day of the last incident. The Vice Principal made it abundantly clear my daughter was not wanted there and did not care for her needs. FAPE, right. Not at this school, not with kids with special needs.

We love this school. No problems with the other students. My kids grades have improved greatly. I could not ask for more in a public school. The teachers are so helpful and are willing to help at all times. The sports fields are kept clean. By far this is the best school in the state.
