What a fantastic school. My children received plenty of enrichment and there were lots of opportunities for involvement for kids and parents.

Amazing. Communication has been excellent, the staff place importance in getting to know my children and our family. They care deeply for the students and it shows. During COVID-19, it has been abundantly clear how much they miss the students!

We loved our experience here and were so sad to move away. The staff and teachers are for the most part excellent and having now moved to a different school, I miss daily how organized and efficiently everything ran at Sycamore Creek. Not to mention the staff and how invested they are in these kids. My son struggles with various issues and watching or hearing stories about different members of the staff (not even his room teacher) helping him made school a great experience for both him and me. He came home many times sharing stories about various teachers or staff and even at one point the Vice Principle stepping in to play with him at recess when he noticed a problem. What a wonderful group of people! We could not have asked for a better start for us in the public education system.

We have outgrown our current home...but love this school so much, that we continue to put up with it for fear of losing the school district. Our experiences have been excellent - teachers and staff go above and beyond, and our kids have really excelled in the environment.

My son just transferred here at the beginning of 3rd grade and we now have one month left until he begins 4th. We have been very pleased all around with SCES from the friendliness of the office staff, to the above and beyond responsiveness & communication from his teacher. He has ADHD and she has continually reaches out when need be to make me aware of happenings at school he otherwise 'forgets' to mention. HW usually takes a bit longer than usual in our case but that is because his medication has worn off by the time he's home. We (thankfully) have not experienced any bullying situations, nor heard of any either which in my mind is a good thing. He's in the before school program which is a plus in our situation based on the time I need to be at work. The kids are reminded to CHOMP daily which is a good constant reminder in helping them build positive characteristics (Cooperative, Honest, On task, Mindful, Prepared). Very pleased thus far with SCES and looking forward to my daughter starting K there next year!

3/4ths of the way through Kindergarten with our first child. Wonderful experience so far! We can't say enough about the teachers and staff. The principal is organized and efficient. Sycamore Creek has an amazing community of parents and students. It's no wonder so many families look to find homes in the area so that Sycamore Creek is their base school.

This is our first year at SCES after transferring from a private school. Our son is currently in the second grade. Thus far, the experience has far exceeded our expectations.Administratively, the school could not be managed any better than it is. The communication from leadership down is prompt, thorough and professional. As parents, you will not be lacking in information regarding anything - regardless of degree of importance. If you have questions, they are answered in a timely fashion with follow-up, if necessary.The education, itself, is far superior to what our son received at his previous school (for gifted children). The curriculum is engaging and challenging. His teacher is thoughtful and makes the lessons enjoyable. Beyond the basics, a lot of thought is put into the learning environment itself via accommodations such as flexible seating - a blessing for fidgety children. Parental engagement is not only sought but highly encouraged via PTA activities and requests for volunteers within the classroom. In comparison to what we experienced in our son's prior school, we feel so fortunate to have such a phenomenal resource within walking distance from our home. If you find yourself concerned about class size, it doesn't appear to be an issue. The organizational skills of the administration and faculty are so finely tuned, they surpass what we observed at my son's previous school where class sizes ranged from five to ten students per class. Attention is given to all students accordingly. Questions do not go unanswered. Issues do not go unresolved (fortunately, we haven't experienced many to date). If you find yourself considering private school as an option to Sycamore Creek, our experience has lead us to believe it's far better to save the tuition money for college. Sycamore Creek has greater resources than most of the private schools in the area. The education is stellar. We cannot say enough good things about the entire program.

We are in our second year here, and very happy with our experience! We considered private, but took a chance since this was our base school and so highly rated. The teachers have been very kind and my son's face is smiling and happy every time that I pick him up. It is a big school, so I sign up to volunteer a lot...I learn something new each time; a new enrichment program, event, opportunity, etc. I strongly disagree that the school doesn't send out adequate communication. We receive emails, weekly phone calls, numerous opportunities to contribution time, experience, or funds from the PTA. You could literally volunteer every single day if you were so inclined.I haven't found that the school teaches to the tests any more than any other school in Wake County. In fact, I've been surprised on several occasions when my son mentioned attending special classes to keep him challenged. At first it caught me off guard, but after thinking about it, I love that the teachers can be flexible enough to set up small groups for extra challenges in a subtle way that doesn't encourage competition or hurt feelings (from students and parents, ha!). I'm blown away by how much he has learned in two short years. The children always seem happy in the hallways, the teachers are fun and participate in dress up days and student-spirit activities. Class size has been great for our first two years, and I'm hopeful it stays the same in the future. Great community feel since the base region for the school is so small. We can't go anywhere without running into someone from school, and the kids always seem so excited to see everyone!I can see that this school may not be the best for students with special needs; it doesn't seem to have as comprehensive programs as say, Brier Creek Elementary. That is always a tricky balance; ideally each school would have wonderful resources for all needs to maximum inclusivity; but I can see that there are economies of scale in place, with increasingly limited public education budgets in NC.

Our son has high functioning ASD. Since he started, he has had tremendous difficulty in transitioning to SCES, despite attending an academically focused preschool and doing very well. We get daily Class Dojo reports from his teacher (thumbs up/thumbs down), but never get any useful feedback as to what incidents occurred where he acted out of line. He is starting to hate school. Despite having an IEP, his push-in assistance is sketchy at best. Ten minutes, three times a week, by teaching assistants who are not special education trained do not come close to what he was getting at his preschool. His teacher frequently rolls her eyes when talking about his quirks and implies that he drives her crazy. If you have a special needs child, I strongly recommend looking into other schools.

The after care program(club croc) on site is insufficient to meet the needs of the children that attend this school. Many children are denied this service and its difficult to find after school options for working parents. This is a gap at the school that needs to be addressed but hasn't been currently.

As a parent of a kindergartener who has had some learning difficulties, I must say I am very impressed with my experience thus far at SCES. Our teacher and teacher assistant are amazing with my daughter and really strive to make sure she is getting the assistance she needs. Communication with them has been frequent and helpful. The administration has a very positive attitude. Generally the parents are very engaged in the school with frequent volunteering and spending time with their children outside of school, which may be another reason for the success we are seeing here. Most importantly, my daughter loves going to school, despite the challenges she's been facing academically. It's a positive environment for her, and I can't recommend SCES enough.

the administration of this school is amazing. they are involved and very accessible to parents. they've been understanding and helpful above and beyond what they've needed to be. as for teachers, it's pretty diverse. some of the teachers are unbelievably amazing. some, well, not so much. it may be that the teachers we've had that aren't as good just don't look as good because the amazing ones we've had are truly amazing. in our experience, there is a direct correlation of awesome teachers to their level of desired parental involvement: that is, the teachers who really want their parents to volunteer in their classrooms have shown way more enthusiasm for teaching than the teachers who prefer not to have parents involved.

Our daughter moved to this school from Leesville for second grade. We were concerned that a relatively new school would be a step down from Leesville. But we have been very pleased with the teachers and staff at Sycamore Creek. Our daughter loves this school. The chorus is amazing. It seems like 1/2 the school is part of it. The music teacher is retiring but I expect the new teacher will be great. She has big shoes to fill. Consider you child lucky if they get go to this school.

This is a wonderful school! We have two children that attend, and they both love it. The teachers are supportive and encouraging. The office and admin staff have been incredible and a joy to have met. Thank you Sycamore Creek, we love you!

We just started at this school on Track 2 in July, but have thus far had a great experience with both teachers, office staff and administrators. We have a kiddo without IEP or 504 but requires classroom accommodations. His teacher is willing to tag-team daily goals. Both teachers are experienced and willing to learn whatever it takes to help our kiddos. The principal is a STRONG leader and is clearly highly involved. The expectations of children to achieve and the willingness to find tools to help them do that is unsurpassed in our experience which consists of 5 elementary schools in 2 states.

SCES is has great teachers and leadership. The PTA is engaged and encourages involvement but doesn't bombard you with requests.
