During COVID when communities were coming together to help each other - Good Shepherd went the other way. As the school was closed and all expenses (salary, utilities, etc.) were covered by Government Paycheck Protection payments, they still refused to refund parents for unused pre-paid tuition. They would not even offer a credit for future use. They basically double dipped on money and stole from parents. The Pastor was arrogant and refused to help any families who had to watch their kids at home, while working and paying thousands for unused tuition. Definitely not the Christian way - Stay Away from there lack of values!

Good Shepherd Lutheran School provides such a warm and loving environment. They take the time to know each child and devote such great care. The staff all come out for the start of school and walk each child in and walk them out after school. We have one in the toddler class and another in pre-k. They love going to school and always look forward to seeing their teachers and staff. They have blossomed so much socially and cognitively since starting in September and it’s only been two months. Miss Mimi and her aides are so nurturing and patient with the two year olds. They update you daily with report sheets. It’s just what they need coming out of covid lockdown. Mrs. Saueracker provides great education and promotes independence for the kids to be ready for kindergarten. My daughter in pre-k tells me how happy she is with Mrs. Saueracker and that she loves her teacher. It’s also so wonderful that they manage to capture moments on videos and pictures so you can see what they are doing that week and privately post it on their class Facebook page. The school offers a lot of events where the family can participate in. It’s like one big family there and you know your child will be safe and cared for when you drop them off.

Both my children attended this school. I had no issues when my son attended . My daughter was in Pre-k during the pandemic and school closing . Myself and many other families paid the entire year in advance and the school would not refund any part of the tuition even though they were closed. Terribly disappointed with the lack of regard for the community or their families financial hardships . Treated poorly , spoken to disrespectfully and would not recommend.

I am incredibly sad to watch this school go downhill. The school leadership is ineffective, and one individual in leadership was mean to parents during the Covid-19 pandemic. I could not recommend this school to others with the current leadership in place.

Disorganized, dishonest leadership ruined an otherwise good school

Good Shepherd is an outstanding school and day care center. It is fully licensed by OCFS and by NYSED. They welcome infants through pre-K. The facilities are top drawer and the faculty is experienced and dedicated to learning excellence.

This is an EXCELLENT preschool! My twins went here for Pre-K and I was totally blown away by the quality education they received in every aspect. Academically they were both thoroughly prepared for Kindergarten. I am a teacher and my standards are quite high. This school went above and beyond with their high quality curriculum and effective execution. Their emotional and social needs were well taken care of as well. They spent ample time in structured play activities that helped develop them fully. The teachers and assistants were all so kind, thoughtful, and loving. My twins both flourished this past year. There were also an abundant amount of extra activities and programs that were so well produced and planned. If you are looking for a Preschool / Pre-K that is just phenomenal in every way - check out Good Shepherd. :)

This may sound cliched, but - your mileage may vary depending on the teachers assigned. The class my son attended at 3 years was with Ms Prevete and Ms Giannuzzi - and frankly, it could not have been any better. The teachers were genuinely interested in the development of the students, bright and cheerful, and were always in sync with every child in their class. The next year my son went to a class under Ms Ocker. This was a very different experience. The teachers seemed almost out of touch with the students, barely able to recognize them or their parents even after many months of classes. The curriculum leaned heavily towards religion - something not visible in the previous year. Assignments and their follow-up were not up to the high mark set in the previous year.Hope the school finds more teachers like Ms Prevete and Ms Giannuzzi.

My daughter had great experiences here. It exceeded my expectations. It has a warm, community feeling. I searched several schools and I am very happy i chose good shepherd. I would definitely recommend it to other parents.
