This school will not support your children, especially if there slow learners or have any sort of difficulty understanding. Your kid will be outcasted by teachers to look stupid. Publicly scolding your children in fromt of class mates, unless your kid is in all ap and was born a scholar run the other way. The teachers here are looking for easy work, they want to teach a lesson once and thats it. If you cant pick it up well best believe youll be left behind and scolded for it.

I have an interesting perspective on JFK, as it became my first public school experience starting in 10th grade. This is surely not the best school on Long Island many teachers and staff members are uninspired (some I would even call unprofessional). There is a sense of apathy that seems to run through about half the adults who work there. However, there are a few special teachers who truly go above and beyond to meet the needs of their students every department boasts at least one standout who has a reputation for challenging the brightest and encouraging the weakest. I would say that about half my classes felt useless and the other half, I couldn t wait to attend. Extracurriculars are relatively varied and the administration is OK they relate well to students but are sometimes ineffective. The student body is very cliquey, but rarely cruel. Basically a middling experience; a determined student will be able to find ways to develop and grow, but those opportunities sure don t present themselves.

This school is appalling. Of it's staff, there are a very select amount who are genuinely concerned with the education of their students. The atmosphere has changed from open and education-oriented to conservative and test-based. Education is no longer about learning at this school, it's about test scores and glorifying the horrific school district it is. I honor those teachers who are brave enough to defy this atmosphere but their efforts are futile. That being said, there is an absurd amount of corruption within the School District (I have, on several occasions, had my voice silenced by the conservative Board as a student) as well as the Teacher' s Union, the teachers often being helplessly subjected by factional disputes. Lastly, the conditions are sickening. The sexism is rampant: boys are forced to scan their IDs every time they use the rest room, creating an environment reminiscent of Orwell's dystopian vision. Sensing the inefficiency of this latest investment, all boys' bathrooms have been closed, save one poorly-maintained and absolutely disgusting facility. This school does not care about its students and its students and staff are generally provincial and base.

This school is horrendous. There's a reason the students call it JFK, "jail for kids". The administration and teachers are a joke. I go to an ivy league school and will not give an ounce of credit for my achievements to any person associated with this poor excuse of a school. The teachers only care that they're making far, far more than they're worth and the administration does nothing but enforce ridiculous rules. Honestly, a disgrace of an institution considering how much my parents paid in tax dollars.
