I'm not sure why Willits received a rating of 6. This is an excellent school! Both of my children attended A.P. Willits and had an amazing experience both academically and socially. The teachers, staff & administration are caring and supportive of all students. I highly recommend sending your child to this school!

We moved to Syosset 5 years ago so our son can attend AP Willits Elementary. So far he has enjoyed his classes, made many friends, and liked the teachers. He especially love the Project Beyond enrichment class because they do more interesting projects according to kids interests. In the Syosset Central S.D., this school is the smallest and thus has the smallest number of students, so the teachers can focus more on the kids. They also have lots of annual activities such as Spring and Fall Concerts, Senior Day, Field Day, Halloween Party,Talent Show, etc. where parents can volunteer and get involved. We are glad and happy that our son is in this school.

My school is A.P. Willits. We moved here in 2012 and my older boy went there for 5th grade (he is at HB Thompson now) and my younger son started 3rd grade there and we could not be happier with the school or the neighborhood. We moved here from Bayside, Queens (S.D. 26) after 1 year of looking for houses in Syosset, Jericho and Half Hollow Hills S.Ds. The school has small class sizes with wonderful, professional teachers who really seem to care about their students. The principal seemed to know every student by name which is astonishing to someone who is use to the NYC schools. The extra curricular programs are plentiful and well organized. Finally, the kids at the school are such great children. My 2 sons have made so many new friends starting their first day. We are very happy we moved here and would recommend the school, and living in Syosset to everyone.

My children had such a nice experience at Willits. The staff is warm and caring. Mrs. Tabone is an amazing principal. She welcomed any parents with questions and concerns. If there were ever any issues she made her own personal observations in order to make appropriate decisions. She makes this school a warm and nurturing environment for every student. We pay high taxes here in this district but it is worth every penny!
