    Our student joined the two year welding program and was thriving in the program through November of year one. His teacher was fantastic! In November of year one West-MEC informed us that the year two class would be held at 11:30AM. That is right square in the middle of the regular high school day. When we pointed out that the 11:30AM start time would prevent our student from earning a diploma at his high school the West-MEC Superintendent’s Office suggested our student drop out of his senior year and just take his core high school classes online in order to complete year two of the welding program. The reason West-MEC provided for the change is that they want to better utilize their campus space and emphasize the adult learner program. In other words, they kicked out the high school students to make room for adult learners.
