High School is challenging no matter what school your student attends. We love that Thunderbird High School has a leadership culture where Juniors and Seniors are strongly encouraged to welcome and support the underclass students. In programs like Band and the NJROTC our experience is that Juniors and Seniors actively work to include, mentor, and train the Freshmen and Sophomores. Our experience with teachers and administrators has been excellent. Yes, there have been challenges with assignments and grades, and we have been able to work through each of those challenges with our teachers. The school has many activity options and students are strongly encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities to get the full High School experience. In our experience, Thunderbird has strong family and community support with many social media booster and parent association accounts plus a Thunderbird Parent Association.com website. We feel welcome at sport games and at student performances. We love Thunderbird High School. Go Titans!

Our son is an honors student at Thunderbird currently. He has a 504 Plan, which his counselor does a good job helping communicate and coordinate with his teachers. In our experience, the district strives to give equal opportunities to all students. Arizona demands a lot of its educators, yet pays notoriously low wages. As a result, higher paying states annually lure the best away. TBird, however, manages to keep its teachers longer, which lends to a stable learning culture.

Child is a recent graduate and had great teachers all 4 years. my only complaint with the school is that their "career center" is very mediocre and does little to help kids research post high school things. Very hard for kids to get one on one help, encouragement, advise on continuing their education.

As the parent of two graduates in the last five years, I would rate this school 5 stars. I graduated from here in 1981, it was average, but I see why it now consistently churns out national merit scholars and Speech and Debate among the best in the state. Ignore the 1* Star ratings...most likely from students and parents that don’t have “the right stuff” to be good students ready to contribute positively to this great COMMUNITY.

1. This school seems to be filled with uneducated staff members. Something was recently brought to my attention and I feel that this school should be shut down because of it's lack of (knowledge on history) .

Probably one of the worst admin teams out there! Assume every student is guilty. Hands down discipline without input from parents. Will not consider parent feelings in decisions!

We've had 1 son graduate with honors and win the state championship in football in his graduating year. He loved his time at Thunderbird as well as his teachers. We currently have another son going into his junior year, following in his brothers footsteps, playing football and taking AP classes. He is doing well also and loves it there.
