I would not recommend this school for anyone . The school is overcrowded, and the focus is primarily on rote memorization rather than fostering true understanding. Teacher communication is poor, and concerns are often ignored. It seems the school is more focused on collecting funds than on the well-being and academic success of its students. Overall, the lack of support and poor approach to education makes it an environment that fails to meet students' needs.

Our daughter has been attending BASIS Pflugerville for the past three years, and she's now starting 7th grade. We've been consistently impressed by the school's advanced STEM-focused curriculum. The academic rigor here is something we truly value, as it challenges students and prepares them exceptionally well for the future. There are concerns from some parents about diversity, which is an important topic. However, it’s worth noting that BASIS Pflugerville is open to students of any ethnicity, and the school is committed to providing a high-quality education to all students, regardless of their background. One area to be aware of is the cost associated with clubs and activities. At BASIS Pflugerville, these fees are more than double what is charged at other BASIS schools. This is largely due to the limited funding that charter schools like BASIS receive compared to public schools. As a result, we also receive multiple fundraising emails throughout the year, which can feel a bit overwhelming at times. It’s unfortunate that charter schools don’t receive the same level of financial support as public schools, especially given the high-quality education they provide.Even though our daughter could excel in the public school system—likely ranking in the top 5%—we've chosen to stay with BASIS because of the exceptional curriculum and the unique learning opportunities it offers. We believe it's worth the investment, and we're excited to see how she continues to grow and succeed here.

I can only speak to our experience in the upper grade levels of this school -- we were part of BASIS Pflugerville for the school's first two years. Originally, we were excited about a truly academics-focused school with high expectations for learning. Our middle schooler learned a lot from a few of his teachers, but ultimately, the experience negatively impacted his outlook on learning. He went from all As in elementary school to struggling to keep up in several subjects as a middle schooler where students were expected to perform at a high school or college level -- and no help was offered beyond student hours (which he attended dutifully, despite in one case being berated by one of his teachers for needing additional help). I would caution parents of other bright, hard working students to know that hard work may not be enough to get by at this school. Teachers leave regularly with little to no notice; most of your student's grade will hinge upon mid-term and final exams, and if they fail these, they will fail the entire grade and face being held back. This school is publicly funded and is mandated by the state of Texas to teach all students, but in my opinion, they shirk that duty, and instead just rely on high rates of attrition that leave them with only the highest performing students. This feels incredibly punitive and unfair to the students who really care about learning and just might need some help in some areas. If there had been some actual academic support, our experience would have been totally different. I hope for future students, they turn this around. In our family's case, they failed us.

Administration has no experience in leadership and it truly feels like they're just playing school, not actually running one. I morally could no longer be associated with a place that has no regard for student or staff well-being. Classrooms are BURSTING at the seams! My smallest class was 31 students and largest was 35. I could write a thesis about all of the issues that I encountered, however, the biggest concern that I have is with the SPED department. 504s and IEPs are not being met. Students who should have small group testing are turned away, due to lack of staff. I've had a student run into my classroom and cower in the corner and heard of many other SPED students who run and have even made it outside! BASIS is failing these students and the federal law. There's an article that I read in Fortune that states, "Education only works off of free labor from teachers. If teachers would stop working for free, it would collapse."We all fall down...

Teaching process is high quality. However I believe that the students shouldn’t switch the classroom for all the subjects specially the elementary students. They are still little. Also they have to carry heavy Binders for every class, which makes the student very tired and exhausted. Below 10 years old students should not be treated like a college student. Most of the elementary student lockers are top rack for which they don’t get time to keep their heavy stuff inside the locker after every class switch. This is something it can be changed by administrators. Study wise school is really good, administrative and management should be proper too. Students are complaining about the stinking restroom aswell. Student pick up is a really stressful for both working parents, hope that something it can be taken care of by the management. PTA team needs to be very strong which can help the school grow in every manner. It may be a great school if the management will be proper. The Head of school is really kind and gentleman.

This is my 2nd year here. I’m loving it so far as I know exactly what they are learning at school. At the least, they are learning and probably a year ahead of every other school. All I can say is that if you’re not up for homework, if you are more into sports or fun after school activities, and want a more school-life balanced, this is not the school for you. Most of the after school activities are educational based and paid. You will have homework every day and possibly quizzes every week. As a parent, you will be expected to be engaged. But that’s exactly what I love about this school. Everything else are just minor issues.

I am very grateful to have my daughter at this school. The teachers and staff are so welcoming and provide a nurturing environment along with a challenging curriculum to keep her motivated and enjoy learning. The head of school is very kind and makes time to engage in meaningful conversations with my daughter during passing periods and even during the busy dismissal time. The head of school is very patient and welcoming to parent queries and helps in resolving issues as soon as possible. Altogether, I feel reassured and pleased to have her in this school. I am looking forward to an amazing journey forward!!!!!

I love the teachers but the head of school and facilities are horrible! My son has been injured multiple times (and broke his arm) because they cram 60 kids into the room the size of a half a basketball court and let them play dodgeball. Then, the bathrooms stink all the time and are not cleaned. Pickup used to take over an hour waiting in line. They got it down to 30mins, but that’s still way too long. The Head of School doesn’t take any feedback from parents nor does he communicate well.We are taking our son out of this school!!
