Most teachers just care about their paycheck and will push kids into depression and anxiety.

This school has really started turning around since 2015-2016...my older kids went there in the first 10 years it was open and it was a really great school. It really went downhill after that, though. There is now a new principal and he is very pro-active and has implemented some cutting-edge programs that have set this school apart from all others. It has turned the corner and is now a great school again...the students and teachers are wonderful and we feel completely comfortable sending our youngest set of kids there now. Also, the band program is one of the best in Southern California.

Amazing extra curricular classes and teachers that actually care about students and their success! Mrs Sell is one of the best English teachers in the AV.

This school started going down hill YEARS ago. My brother was transferred here when the school first opened, it was great then. A few years later I was there, and it was nothing like it was for him. Dirty, crowded, and hostile environment. My baby sister graduated 2 years ago and said things are even worse now. I won't let my children attend HHS.

My son has been going to Highland High School for the last 4yrs. He is graduating this year. I personally was very skeptical when he started but the teachers he has gotten through out his 4yrs were Super excellent. He is a 4.0 student. The teachers are great. They work with the student and expect excellence from them. They are tough but great (awesome teachers). I think that the new generation needs some tough love from both parents and teachers. If they don't receive that they tend to go in the wrong directions. The teachers care a lot about the students at Highland High School and us as parents need to give them a lot of support and credit for what they have done for our kids.

I have had four children attend this school, one of which was a valedictorian from the IB program. Three of my children have been active leaders and involved in extra-curricular activities and sports teams. There have been three or more principals during their years there. My experience with the personnel at this school has been very negative. I have two older children who attended Littlerock High and the experience there was very positive. The staff at Highland are rude to both students and parents. The good teachers are few and far between. Parent involvement is nill. There is no communication to the parents about getting involved. The new principal (Ford) seems willing to change this atmosphere. I hoping his professionalism will be reflected in his staff. Teacher training and staff development are sorely needed.

HHS is a very good school, My three dauthers went to Highland High My oldest dauther gratuated in 2004 she has a BA in English Lit. and she is a Safety Reporter, my second dauther gratuated on 2008 and is currently in the University for Computer Ingeniere and my last one will graduate 2013 as a valetdectorian with 4.0. It all depends on the student effort and dedication I think the school is very diverse and little bully. Teachers are amazing and strict.
