My two children’s experience at Palmdale Learning Plaza have been great. I appreciate all the opportunities this school provides for students to get involved, to serve the community, & to push them to excellence. Great teachers, wonderful school counselor, and excellent International Baccalaureate program. The IB program also focuses on developing characteristics that help students thrive and make a positive impact in the world. I also like that this school has a garden, a sewing for service club, and an active ASB. My kids don’t like that they have to wear uniforms, but my husband and I think it’s great.

All three of my children have attended PLP it is a great k-8 that allows for inquiry instruction. We love them wearing uniforms and the school culture. There are great teachers and staff there that care about your child. It is an international baccalaureate school that focus on being a globally minded students. We love PLP

Dear parents, Hello I am a student at Palmdale Learning Plaza going into eighth grade. As a student I have witnessed first hand all of what I am complaining about. I will be leaving next year thankfully and I just hope there will be less students forced to go to this horrible school. As I am thirteen I wanted to be a slight bit more independent at school and be respected at school by teachers like the young adult I am and yet here I am not. Most of the MYP teachers look down on students and one even screams at students on the daily in an attempt to intimidate the students so he can control his classroom. Another thing is that the MYP students have none of the privlages granted to other students in the district that are in the same grade. Including disgusting lunches, no snack bars, vending machines, forced to waste most of their lunch period on the black top in order for the younger kids to have a lunch recess on the field playground and handball courts, have to stay with the same students while switching classes throughout the day and, have to stay in the smallest building on the campus all for five out of seven periods. But my opinion is not only biased by the MYP program but also by the PYP program. During my 2 years in the PYP program I hated having to wear uniforms for the first time and your kid(s) will too. Also how we seem to get out the latest in the whole district at 4 o'clock. Plus the start time at 9 o'clock is completely inconvenient for parents who work earlier than that. Another thing for parents concerned with their children or for students with asthma how safe is it really to have children exposed to the fumes of the freeway every time they leave the classroom. My last warning is that the school is in bad area of town where many homeless people camp out and very close to 2 gas stations where they could easily taken after school by anyone walking on the streets. I hope this was useful. Sincerely, A Student

We have great teachers: Ms. Campfield, Ms. Kreutel, and Mrs. Fenbers. Our secretary is not as sweet and helpful as the principal picture her in the palmdale school district magazine, but our teachers are Great! we miss our assistant principal Ms. Kaplan Gray, she has been the best Assistant we had at PLP, We also miss Mrs. Summers she is a great teacher! Ms. Campfield is the sweetest...! Ms. Kreutel has a great friendship with her students... Mrs. Fenbers has a lot of patience!

This is my sons second year at PLP, I have been a volunteer on a regular basis and I'm happy with the education he is receiving, the future looks promising with the new principal who is here with fresh ideas, lets hope for the best, with the new core test, I couldn't be happier, the kids now have the chance of developing an analytical thinking and their writing skills more than guessing in a multiple choise test. I would like to see the student of the month and more extracurricular activities.

Overall I say that this school is pretty good , education wise. As a former student, I have to say that their behavior policies were kind of messed up. The one good thing about the school though is that most of the teachers have great teaching strategies, especially the seventh and eight grade teachers. They also have a new principle now, so let's see how that goes...

Im sure that the principal is a disconnected paper shuffler, in his office i see him shuffle all the time. Well, my kid always gets referrals for doing anything. He nicely zipped up his friends backpack only to be nice but instead got a referral!!! Once my kid opened a door and got in trouble and it was to go outside!!!! They always get him in trouble!! The food they serve is disgusting, they do not even cook it filled with hair and other things i never seen before 0.o They also took out all the afterschool programs and only have one(chineese club) which is boring. My kid said that there are other students who clog the toliets, pop water bottles in the sink, and play their DS in the stall and my kid can"t even take a dump. So i switched my kid to Los Amigos and im happy with it. Los Amigos is a good school with a good environment and economy. It is clean with good food. If Los Amigos was a potato it would be a very good potato.(shout out to mrs.peres[bird lady])

The principal can't be a disconnected paper shuffler is he can't shuffle! This principal managed to ruin my child's best years with idiotic referrals. The same teacher had given my student two referrals for terrible reasons, including simply talking while in line. The new principal just doesn't care about the students in the slightest. Although there are still great teachers in the school. SHOUT OUT TO COACH LEEDS YOU FEEL ME.

Have to agree that the principal is a disconnected paper shuffler with little meaningful interaction with parents or students. This school was once a jewel, but the school district is a beauracratic bully that stifles fresh ideas and Im sure frustrates teachers as well as parents with their oppressive rules and constant idiotic "new rules". If mys son wasnt in his final years I would transfer him.

My kids have been going to this shcool since day one of its opening. My kids loved this school and cheerished it. But ever since the new principle showed it. It went down hill with the school. Go to Los Amigos, better environment and better high quality ( Big shout out to Mr. Cruz best teacher) Love, RaluChucoObeyKingNgCruz

My children have been at PLP since kindergarten, we have suffered through the new principal and the revolving door that is the Asst. Prin. Office, its a shame. The school used to carefully select its students and as a PLP parent it was our job to ensure our kids were behaving within the guidelines set for them. Now the schools a joke. Not at the fault of the teachers, I've watched them struggle to teach and do the best they can with what they are given. The kids are not even allowed to play at recess because everything has been taken away from them. The district needs to make a change and put PLP back the way it was. Sadly, we will be exploring other options for next year. Too bad too, we used to be proud to be PLP parents.

PLP was a wonderful place a couple of years ago, however, since the principle change and the lack of State funding it has lost alot of it's appeal. We have been attending PLP going on three years now. My youngest attended 2nd grade last school year, and the math program was the worst I have ever seen, The incredibly strong foundation that his first grade teacher (the districts Master) had provided was riped out from under him and left him struggling with simple addition most of the year. It was very frightening. I will be investigating Westside Union School districts Home schooling program. I believe that the students at PLP are no longer recieving the individual attention that they once were.

Two years ago I would have given PLP a 5 star rating, however since the new principal has come in and the rules on admitting students have changed the school has too. I am offended that the Palmdale School Dist. thinks it is more important to teach my children how to speak Spanish then Science or Social Studies but that is not the schools fault. We have been very lucky and only have had one teacher that we were very unhappy with. My son and daughter both attend PLP and have since they were in Kindergarten, they are in 2nd and 3rd now and absolutely love going to school every day. Great School!!!!!
