If I could turn back time I would have never sent my child to this school. The education is mediocre. It's straight from the books, nothing to engage or excite your child. The reason the grades at ok are because most of the parents income levels allow for outside tutoring. They overly focus on a strict dress code. They stop class to individually metal detect students for cell phones because cell phones are a hindrance. Like interupting the class to violate personal space is not. Bulling is terrible. The worst part is the administration allows it if not also participating. The teachers can often be heard gossiping with students about other students and administrators. They do nothing about threats of physical violence. One student stabbed another, the student that did the stabbing was allowed to return. The staff definitely have their favorites and let it be known. Favoritism is awful here and they do not try to hide it. The teachers are just as "cliquey" as the students and this school is clique strong. Drugs are abundant. One student can be found in possession of substances and it be ok whereas another may be expelled depending on their clinque same with the bullying. Drugs are very common in the bathrooms. This is a serious problem at this school but as long as it's not a cell phone it's ok. Communication with teachers is nonexistent. Most schools get excited about parental involvement at EHS they act annoyed by it. Forget getting a reply from Mr eller ever. He isnt concerned with actual issues just maintaining his control and authority. The school seems unorganized and no one can ever give you a clear answer for anything if you actually get in contact with anyone. There are a handful of teachers who seem to care but they seem overwhelmed most of the time. The clubs and activities are a joke. I hear of things that are happening at other schools and wonder why EHS is trying for that type of engagement.

I have more than a mouthful to say in regards to this terrible school, and it’s even worse administration and teachers. Save yourself the stress and worry and take your babies somewhere safe, where the teachers and principles actually care. East Hamilton is NOT it.

This school is alright, I guess. I've only been here for almost one year now, and I have some opinions. 1) The teachers here are pretty much hit or miss, either you get an incredible teacher that 100% cares about the students and their safety/mental health, or you get a teacher that absolutely does not care whatsoever. 2) THE FOOD. Okay, sure. School food in general is bad. But I think this school is exceptionally bad. The hot dogs taste stale and rubbery, the cheese tastes like it's been left out for a few days, and the beef looks like it was regurgitated. (I'm not even kidding, it looks like it has green chunks in it, and it tastes like it, too.) 3) The dress code. Yes, there are plenty of schools that have extremely strict dress code, and maybe my last school just wasn't as strict. But seriously, this school's dress code feels excessive. No cargo pants, jeans, etc. I would think that they would restrict these things because maybe people could hide inappropriate things in their pants, but no. A teacher told us that it was because we cant have 'too much comfort', or else we would fall asleep in class. Uhh... sorry, what? So... the reason we can't wear cargo pants is... we would be too comfortable? I may be wrong, but I really don't think that this is a valid reason. One time, I was literally sent to the office to change my pants one day after they changed the dress code. 4) Safety is not the best here. I have had a few times where I genuinely didn't feel safe, but I feel like they are getting better with this.Let's end this off with a positive note. Since this school is new, it is very nice and well kept. The cafeteria could be cleaner, sure, and I don't even think they wipe the tables, but generally this school is nicely up kept.

This school is less than 4 years old and has already gone downhill. Safety is the number one concern. Parents have expressed frustration at the school level and district level to no avail. There seems to be a fight once a week or a bomb threat monthly that includes some sort of violence. School staff allows students to remain at school after an act of violence and there are no repercussions. This school is a joke and I am sorry my daughter had to go here for two years. We are going to a private school next year as we no longer have faith in school or the district leadership.

The school has declined the past few years. My children dont feel entirely safe there. The administration seems absolutely oblivious to school security, academically engaging and challenging all students, listening to parents, and in assisting parents to plan their students education. I would not send my kids here if i had to do it again. Barring a change in administration, Id move to Signal, or go for a private or magnet school.

Great experience with East Hamilton. In the Greater Chattanooga area, if you aren’t looking to do private school, you either want your child in East Hamilton or Signal Mountain. We are very happy we chose East Hamilton. Excellent teachers, progressive courses, well mannered children. Great overall school.

If you have a troubled child they are all about blame instead of working with you to find better ways to teach your child. The school is to big ! My daughter 6th grade first day of school was sent to the principles office for not wearing a belt. She was terrified and in tears. First day of middle school relatively straight A student never been in trouble in her life. Troublesome school for minorities and it’s to big.

Pretty bad, the sore tolerance rule makes it to where both the bully and the victim (if he decides to defend him self like any other human being) are suspended or given repercussions for their actions

I have two daughters attending this school that also play sports and so far everything is going Great!!!

Both my children attend this school, and we have had no issues thus far. We are impressed with the policy changes Principal Eller has implemented. We have heard nothing but positive feedback from other fellow parents about their child’s experiences with this school. So glad we made the decision to move here after researching school districts.

This year, very good! I am excited to see how the new leadership and policies will effect needed change over the long term.

This was a great school until Brent Eller showed up, he needs to be kicked out immediately. No leadership, no accountability, backwards thinking that needs to be gone for our schools permanently.

My family has been all over the US, due to being military, and I can say that this is, without a doubt, the worst district and school we have experienced out of five schools our children have attended. In pretty much every other area, where your residence is dictates where your children go to school; in Hamilton County it doesn't matter so if you buy/rent to get into a certain school your money was just wasted. As long as you know someone or your kids are good athletes you can request a "hardship" for reasons such as one specific class is offered at your desired school and not at the one you are assigned, your house is 1/4 mile closer to one school over another, or you threaten the administration with legal action because your little angel punched someone and were expelled and you just don't think its fair. Save your money and buy wherever you want and then pay for one of the many private schools that actually do a good job.

This school year has been the worst ever! The new administration has come in and enforced this stupid dress code and it’s seems all they focus on is suspending students for stupid things and that darn dress code. The scores have dropped but they show little to no concern about that or the kids education. Seems that this new administration was put in place to work as a disciplinary.

It would have a 2 out of 10 the school has terrible admin and they don’t like parents at all and they don’t get a long with students. The new admin yelled at all the kids if they weren’t quite they would suspend them which I do not agree with. And whenever girls make a complaint about a boy the assistant principal always makes it seem like the girls fault and hounds her

This school has the worst principals who only care about money.

Overall the school is on the right track and progressing well. There is always room for improvement and people who communicate their concerns constructively and respectfully generally yields positive results.
