I attended the Awards Day May 25, 2022.First, the inorganization was obvious.Second, the audio system was pitiful and distressing.Third, most of all, I could not believe the damage done to the students who were "tied" for awards. Only 1 student allowed to win! How devastating for all. Question, who and how was the winner picked? Was it due to Favoritism? Prejudice? EACH student who "tied" and not "picked" are to receive awards! Why are you teaching unfairness, prejudice, inequality, favoritism, discrimination and infringement.

Aside from a few really standout teachers, this place was a terrible environment for students. Frankly from the day they show up, it's an absolute free for all in terms of trying to learn anything. The students are crazy, the teachers are overall inattentive, and the only positives the school has are the Lunch Ladies, and the teachers in the Science Department.

It is not really bad. But it does need improvement

The school isn't bad, it's the students but then again we can't do anything about that. We can't change people on who they are and why they do disrespectful things. I love Berkeley but sometimes I wish the staff could do more than they do now.

We moved to SC from another state with with excellent schools. My daughter went from loving school and getting straight As to hating school and only making average grades. Had I known what I do now, we would never have moved here. The area is nice, but schools are horrible...unless you can afford private schools. The school counselors gave us incorrect advice about classes when we enrolled. We were not permitted to enroll my child in any advanced programs because we were transferring from out of state. They have a poor selection of electives. Teachers ALWAYS have difficulty maintaining order in the classrooms. You also cannot trust the bussing system. It's dangerous, unreliable, and discriminatory. I would never recommend this school to anyone.

The 3 star rating on this site is incorrect. This school is horrible!! The staff do not control the classroomsor the hostile students as they should. Many of the teachers are unqualified and ill-equipped to teach on the high school level. The education received is sub-par and poorly prepares students for their future careers. Unless they choose blue collar employement or the miitary; beyond that they are being set uo for future failure.

I could not understand why many of the students at Berkeley High School are so aggressive and disrespectful towards each other, until I learned of the attitude that the BHS principlal has towards some of the students. My child innocently was walking in the hallway, during the pledge if allegiance, as she was on her way to class. Unexpectedly, the principal signalled her out in front of her peers who were also walking in the hall at that time, and criticized her for not showing the proper respect, by not stopping and holding her hand to her heart in the hallway. My daughter gently responded to her by saying "I'm sorry." The principal angrily snapped back at her and yelled "You should be!." My daughter was very hurt by the princpal's heartless response to her unintentional error. Also, students at BHS place much pressure on each other to dress, act and look a certain way, or face isolation, name calling and the like. But the faculty at BHS literally ignore these and other hostilities. If you care about your child's self-esteem and piece of mind, then BHS is the wrong choice for schools.
