    It's so bad I can't bare it

As a military family moving to the area from an advanced-level school district, our two middle schoolers have thrived at CBM. We have experienced two other schools in the surrounding area, and CBM is by far the BEST middle school. CBM has provided the academic challenge our extremely gifted students needs, and they have been the model school for following 504 plans and the dream team to work with!

Maybe I’m being a little nit-picky, but in all honesty this school is mediocre. There is nothing interesting about it. It’s on par with just about every school in the country with no outstanding qualities. As a student currently attending, I’ll admit the teachers are pretty nice (at least the ones I have). The only major problem I have with CBM is the fact they treat us like elementary schoolers and barely prepare us for high school maturity-wise. I’ve attended two middle schools before this, neither of them had recess (or “team-time,” as it’s referred to here). “But that seems like a GOOD thing!” No. No it is not. The reason this is a problem is because high schoolers don’t get recess, they typically learn in middle school that recess time is for little kids. When you give people who are about to go to high school recess, they can’t mature like how students at other public schools would because they’re treated like 5 year olds. If you’ve ever interacted with the freshmen at CBH, you’d know what I’m talking about. “But what about time to socialize with people they wouldn’t get to see otherwise?” I’ll get to that later. Not to mention the bathroom breaks every hour. If you SERIOUSLY think that teenagers need to be walked to the bathroom every hour like kindergarteners then you have a problem. This is yet another reason why kids only going here for all of their middle school career are so immature. And then there’s the lunch period. If the school is too small to fit everyone in the cafeteria, then let people eat in the hallways as well as their classrooms and the cafeteria instead of JUST the classrooms. This would also give an opportunity to socialize. By the way, teachers and other staff can just monitor the hallways during lunch in case behavior was a concern.Honestly, teachers here are okay, there’s nothing really wrong with the staff. The only complaints I have are about the students, behavior issues, and how the school works. Since students are treated like children, they act like children. It makes behavior worse. Compared to other schools in the district and around, I guess it could be worse. But considering that you have to get on a waitlist for this, it’s really disappointing. As for the question of “Would you recommend this school?”, if you can only choose from schools in Cane Bay, yes. If you can choose from any other better school, no.TL;DR The school could be better.

Recently moved from Idaho and can’t get our children in to the local schools do to overcrowding. The waitlist for the middle school (as of 7/14/2021) is ONE HUNDRED PLUS! DO NOT buy a home in Cane Bay for the schools if you plan on getting in for the 2021 school year.

This school has now doubled in number of students. Probably close to 1500. My son has just started there in his first year of middle school. So far I am pleased.
